Gabby1 reacted to I HaveBoobs in Hot air styler vs straightening brush help!
Ih love Im a Hairdresser by trade and we (most hairdressers i know ) dont like the wet to dry anything as it tends to scorch the cuticle layer of the hair and thats what you can see and feel on the outside what goes on inside is something different altogether. Hair when its wet is also very weak as the bonds have been softened by the water and is prone to breaking under tension. The hot air styler will be your safer option as you mentioned that you wanted to make/ keep your hair healthy. Also i would invest in a good heat protection sprayto apply to dry hair before using straightening irons or a heat lotion to add to wet hair before drying
This article i found best describs what I'm trying to explain and this is something that is taught to all apprentices in thire first year at TAFE.

I guess everything has side affects and you have to weigh up whats more important.  I had bad skin s a teenager and was put on medication it wasn't Roaccutane buy something else which did help, now I'm in my mid 40s an have hormonal skin. 😟

I have been on this drug twice. Sure there are side effects but all manageable so l was lucky. It was the only thing that worked  for me. My son was on it as as well with no issues. Like any drugs there are always going to be risks. Interesting read, thanks for sharing.

Agree Don. I think when your skin is crap you feel like crap and that certainly doesn’t help with depression either.

This isn’t new the media like to run with this when they’re looking for a scandal every few years. It’s a great drug and has changed the lives of many but there have always been reported cases of suicidal ideation which is why it should only be prescribed and monitored by a Dermatologist closely.

I am a Dr B girl all the way! Look at the surgeons reviews, that is the most important thing. Cost shouldn’t be a factor. Good luck 😊

I went dual plane mod plus profile 300CC. Most people think they are natural, only the odd person at the beach may pick up on it and ask cos they are not sure. That's want l wanted at the time. Next time l will definitely go bigger but not crazy big. They end up being smaller then the sizers you try on anyway- thank god l listened to hubby and didn't go any smaller!

I had to have another operation recently for the Endometriosis and I did end up listening to my gyno about getting the Mirena. I was in so much pain with the Endometriosis that I needed to do something. Four weeks into having the Mirena and so far I am just experiencing nausea, feeling emotional now and then for no reason and sore breasts intermittently. Fingers crossed the Mirena regulates the Endometriosis and it doesn't grow back again.

So an update for anyone that is interested. @donatella and @imperfectly_lou
I had my six week follow up and my gynae insisted that the Mirena doesn't cause thrush but it can cause a pH imbalance. So she said use pH gel applicators and wash with vinegar! It gives a whole new meaning to fish and chips and vinegar! 😂
I have also started drinking apple cider vinegar as well. Not sure if it is doing anything but l have had no flare ups. 👍
On a side note, no period since- winning!!!
My hormones were a bit screwed for the first few months- emotions etc but it seems to have settled. My gynae loves her Mirena  she has used them for twenty years and has never had an issue hence why she love them (or she is on their payroll lol)
Hope this helps someone that is thinking of getting one.

I've had mine for almost 2 years now and love it, never had any problems and never once had thrush but used to get thrush in the past "before Mirena" every time I was on antibiotics. Since Mirena I haven't had thrush even the times I was on antibiotics, not even after my BA.
    Give it time 😊

Hi Gabby. I got my first IUD in 2008, second five years later and have never had any issues. But around a year ago I developed a small tear around the entrance to the vagina which made sex very painful. I was always quite itchy but because I had no discharge and my vaginal swabs were clear, my GP was very perplexed and sent me to a specialist who deals with dermatological issues of the vagina (can you believe such a specialist exists???)
anyway, she rather abruptly told me that I had quite a bad case of thrush even without discharge and a lot of papers had recently been published on the Mirena and thrush. She said I could either take it out or take a long term anti fungal medication. I'm only 35 so not ready for a tubal ligation just yet and I really don't want to go on the pill so I'm sticking with the medication for now and it seems to have fixed the problems.
