  1. I'm pretty sure Dr Mooney got barred from practice for a while due to the death of two of his patients soon after surgery. Albeit, I think that had more to do with sinuses than with rhinoplasty.
  2. What do you mean by dent? In the side of the nose or in the actual front of the nose?
  3. Hello, I am thinking about him too. I think he has less reviews because a lot of surgeons buy fake reviews to look good on RealSelf. It does seem odd that less respected surgeons would have far more 5-star reviews despite having been in the industry for a shorter time. I believe some of these surgeons may pay/discount their customers to post good reviews or to post their before and after shots online or on social media. This is pure speculation however. I did read elsewhere that Marcells isn’t going to try and talk you into getting surgery because he has enough clients to work with. I think that’s a good sign. The best thing to do will be to ask to see more before and afters in his office, as Marcells is more private with patient results. Personally, I would be happy to post before and afters in return for a rebate if I was happy with the results but some surgeons focus less on their marketing and more on their surgery skills.
  4. I have narrowed down my search for a rhinoplasty ENT surgeon to Dr George Marcells and Dr Shahram Shahidi. Does anyone have any information on who will be best? Marcells seems to post less before and after photos, perhaps because he has a solid client base who pay good money and this he respects their privacy. Shahidi on the other hand seems to post lots of before and afters (perhaps offers patient discounts?), which I don’t see as a bad thing but it does make me wonder. I like his work however, but surgeons naturally only post their successes. I did see some people saying to question anyone calling themselves a ‘Master of Rhinoplasty’ (Marcells), however he does seem to have the most experience in Australia. He is apparently a high volume surgeon and not too many reviews can be found online, which leads me to believe most of his patients are happy and go on their merry way. Any thoughts on these Sydney surgeons?
  5. Any thoughts on who to trust? There is so much contradictory information out there. I am also suspicious of relatively dodgy surgeons with 100+ positive reviews, when truly respected surgeons have very few reviews at all.
  6. Hello, I have had a consult for male rhinoplasty with Dr George Marcells in Sydney, Australia. He was very nice and professional when I saw him, and took the time to listen to my concerns and show me how he could fix them. I felt really comfortable in the consultation with him. There are about 10 reviews on RealSelf and 19 on RateMDs. They are all positive for rhinoplasty, however I saw three comments in total about revision rhinoplasty with him which were not so good. Such is to be expected, as you cannot have a surgeon always get the perfect result and I understand that. I wondered if any of you had experience with him? I see some comments online where people call him the best rhinoplasty surgeon in Australia. The only real evidence of this is his large body of experience, and appointments to several posts within surgery societies. He does seem to have a focus on the importance of the structure of the nose - as he is an ENT. I have not been able to find any scandalous reviews about his work, which can be found about practically every other rhino surgeon in Australia. So I am hoping most of his clients just don't leave reviews because they are happy with his work. Has anyone had any experiences with George Marcells or can shed us some knowledge?
