  1. Hi - I am new to the forum and would love to hear some first hand experience from anyone who had Dr Marcells as their surgeon in Sydney. I am trying to make my decision of whether to go ahead with rhinoplasty. I have breathing issues and a bump in my nose caused by an injury years ago. I have wanted to get it fixed for a long time but have been too scared! A chin implant has also been suggested which I hadn't thought of before (but can see the need for!) Anyone have any first hand experience about rhinoplasty / chin augmentation with Dr Marcells and willing to share? I would love to hear from you!!
  2. Hi guys, This is my first post here, and I'm looking for some general opinions & feedback. I'm planning to get chin surgery & rhinoplasty combined, but I'm not entireley sure about which option I'll be going with yet: Sliding Genioplasty, or Implant? I've been researching both for quite a long time now, and been given conflicting information by the various doctors I've contacted about it. Some are saying Genioplasty, for it's benefits of controlling projection and/or length, while others are saying Implant for it's easier operation, cost saving, and acheiving more of the square shape I'd prefer - my chin is currently more rounded than square. I think I'd prefer a genioplasty if possible (for it's extra strength & stability), but I'm still open to an implant if someone can quash my concerns on them - complications, infection, etc. With adequate surgeon research beforehand, I'm also planning to get it done in Thailand to save a little bit of money. Thanks in advance - D 🙂
  3. Hi all For the last few years I have felt incredibly self-conscious about the structure and harmony (or lack thereof) of my face. I'm 17. I have always felt that my nose is too big for the rest of my face, and everyone I know has told me again and again that I don't have a big nose. I even went on another plastic surgery forum and the surgeons told me I didn't have a large enough nose to qualify for a rhinoplasty. So, I assume the problem could be the ratio between my nose and chin. Looking at these photos, would I be a good candidate for a chin augmentation (implants) procedure? OR - is my nose actually the problem? Should I get a rhinoplasty instead? In in my opinion the structure of my profile is really off balance and I would like to do something about it. Please let me know what you think! Would this surgery improve my facial features?
  4. I would like to share my experience with surgery I had performed by Dr David Ross of Bayside Plastic Surgery, Melbourne Australia. Dr Ross affixed a chin implant entirely on top of my chin rather than around it (according to the hospital report written by the independent removing surgeon), and it was attached to my face 1.5cm off centre (again, according to the hospital report). This resulted in: 1. my lower face being twisted out of shape (increased projection on the left side) and; 2. one of the arms of the implant pushing out my cheek, causing the skin to tent. Further: 1. one side of my lower lip was being pulled down by the implant; 2. the muscles could not function normally on the left side, and; 3. I couldn't open my mouth fully nor smile properly because the implant was so large. Dr Ross did not record or take action in relation to all these issues, except for noting my face as "uneven" in my medical file. He sent me home for another two weeks without further consultation. If I wanted the implant removed, he advised I would have to pay . It is well known that the longer an implant remains in position, the further it sets in place and becomes harder to remove. In addition, leaving the implant in (especially one as large as Dr Ross inserted), increases the chance of post-removal complications developing (ie. witches chin deformity). Despite the fact my face was uneven and Dr Ross noting this in his file, he wrote to my GP and said the implant was "certainly sitting in position" and that I was "psychologically upset", and that in time he hoped I would become more "accepting" of the outcome which he felt had achieved my "stated goals". How can an uneven face be caused by an implant "certainly sitting in position", and what patient wants an uneven face? I consulted with another surgeon who arranged removal of the implant the following working day. This surgeon noted all the problems I was experiencing. The implant was having such a profound effect on me at the time, the second surgeon could not tell if the implant was causing the movement disorders or whether I had suffered permanent nerve damage, which was preventing the normal function of my lower face and lip . Fortunately, once the implant was removed, it was established the implant was at fault and I had not suffered permanent nerve damage. The wait to find out whether I had suffered this damage was, however, excruciating. You can see my story and the result of my surgery with Dr David Ross, at: http://c-implant.tumblr.com/ (One photo in this post is me after the implant was removed by another surgeon).

  6. Hi Everyone, So after years of contemplating and research I have finally decicded to go under the knife in Thailand. I was just wondering if anyone else can share there stories on there procedures especially nose and chin and also your surgeon would be great if it was Dr Montien. I have heard some great things on this guy and have also got some great information from this site already but more information is always valuable. I'm booking in for next month, and while I'm there im also going to get 4 crowns on the front of my teeth... Why not ey!! It would be great to hear of a few of you and follow your journey, I will also be keeping you guys updated along the way as I feel If i can share my experience with you it will help someone else in the weeks or months coming to take the same journey as me. Currently I'm just finalising a few things with work but by the end of this week I hope to have the procedures booked and my flights. I'm excited but scared at the same time, I'm going over on my own as my partner cannot get the time off work so I think more than anything it scares me being there alone, But I'm a big boy, I've traveled on my own before. Well please if anyone reads this and has anything to share it would be great to hear off you, and likewise if you guys would like to know anything from me then also please get in touch. Cheers, Warren
