  1. Good Evening, My name is Elizabeth Tekanyo. I am a postgrad researcher from Curtin University in WA investigating the stories and experiences of women who have undergone any form of genital alteration including cutting/circumcision/labiaplasty/piercing before moving to Australia. The aim of the study is to publish research on the experiences and needs of this population in order to better inform the Australian Government policy on the social, well-being and medical treatment needs relevant to this population from the anonymous stories and perspectives of the women themselves. I am reaching out as I am currently looking for 9 more participants to take part in a 60-90 min voluntary, confidential interview (will be de-identified and take place either over the phone or in person) as part of a study approved by Curtin University's Human Research Ethics Committee (HRE2018-0755). Study inclusion criteria includes: Female identified Aged 18+ English speaking Legally reside in Australia Underwent genital alteration before moving to Australia If you are interested in taking part in this study and for a chance to win a Coles giftcard please contact: elizabeth.tekanyo@postgrad.curtin.edu.au Participants are welcome to contact me directly at this email. Thank you so much, Elizabeth Tekanyo
  2. Hi everyone, I am based in Australia and had a labiaplasty procedure (wedge method) done 1 year ago and I am very unhappy with the results. Before this procedure, the clitoral area was neat and tidy and the long labia was my only concern. I am unhappy because find it looks too messy and bulky compared to what it used to be . I read on many plastic surgery forums that it can take 6 months to a year for people to get their final results and for the area to even out, however I feel totally dissatisfied and disfigured 1 year post surgery. 6 weeks post surgery, I told my surgeon about my concerns and told her I'd like to tidy the clitoral area up and reduce the bulkiness. She said she could offer a revision, but she warned that this is a very risky procedure as there is potential for loss of clitoral sensation due to all the nerve endings in the area. She stated that she has never had this occur to any of her patients, however this is something I'd need to consider very carefully. Has anyone had the same experience as me and had a surgical revision in the clitoral area and if so, what were your results? I have disclosed some photos for you all to see. Thanks for your time!

  4. Hey ladies! So happy I discovered CJ.com - I have been quietly stalking some threads over the past few weeks and thought it was high time I take a deep breath and make a post of my own (you will be the first besides my partner to hear about my vagina issues! Lucky you ) LP surgery has been on my mind for atleast the past 6 years, since I found out it was possible to fix all my comfort and embarrassment concerns. I have never been happy with my minora, but the biggest problem is my majora (excuse the pun!) and from my early teens I have been conscious of the fact that my outer lips are very full and puffy. Not only is this a constant invite for thrush, rubbing and chafing but of course they show through any and all pants/underwear - this doesn't make my life as a personal trainer any easier as there are too many exercises I can't do in public, and don't even get me started on wearing gym tights... ! I can count on one hand the amount of times I have worn a bikini in public and only twice have I been swimming without boardshorts - because we all know how tight material sticks when water is involved! Anyway, I have just turned 24 and I am taking the plunge this year. My problem is that it's hard enough to find an amazing surgeon for labiaplasty (I will pay anything to find someone skilled with a good bedside manner), but when you add the majora into the mix, it becomes even harder - I haven't heard of anyone having liposuction/reduction on the outside. Can anyone share their stories, surgeons, tips or ideas?
  5. Hi there, I'm 34 years old girl based in Adelaide SA - no children. Surgery - BOTH Majora & Minora I have been bothered by my lifetime of discomfort/pain whilst sitting, standing, walking, riding bicycles - it gets stuck 'down there', chaffing and removing my underwear hurts! Don't get me started on the attempts to tuck it in and the toilet paper issues... 😨 Its absolutely embarrassing to see the bulge & outline in my workout pants - I'm restricted to selected Lorna Jane pants. All can see everything through my bikini bottoms - I have about 15 pairs in effort to find a way to conceal it all! Can anyone please send me recommended & experienced plastic surgeon - perhaps even share your experiences with me for both Labia Majora & Minora procedures? The surgery locations are preferred to be based in South Australia and/or Victoria perhaps Melbourne area as well? How many trips would I need to make OR how long to stay in Melbourne etc? Can I book the consultation and the surgery ahead in close proximity of each of the 2 appointments? Are there any tips or guides you can provide me? Cost guides, techniques/methods used, type of aesthetic suggested, healing process, downtime expected and preparation I'll need? What questions are key to achieving what I want? Including the removal of dark coloring on the lips from the chaffing..? As I'm so embarrassed, I'm going to see if I can keep the procedure quiet and take care of myself. Is this realistic? As with everyone, it's so important to get it right. Its taken me the longest time to even get the courage to ask about it - but I was rudely shut down by a GP during my last Pap smear (which I'm well overdue for). Does medicare or my Medibank Silver Prioity offer rebates? Do I need to stay in hospital? If so, how long for? ANY advice, reference points, shared experiences you can provide me is completely invaluable and appreciated in advance! 💋

Does anybody have any suggestions which plastic surgeon is well known for labiaplasty? Also, any reviews for dr Richard Hamilton?
  8. Hi everyone! I was was wondering if anyone knows which private health insurance companies cover medicare item 35533 for labiaplasty. I can't find it on any of the websites and I believe it would save me quite a bit of money if I am insured for this particular surgery, even though I have to wait a year. Thank you.
  9. Hello I live in QLD just wanting to know where to go for a good surgeon, reasonably priced, for labiaplasty (reduction of labia and clitoral hood) Thank you
  10. Hi ladies, I'm planning to have labiaplasty done in or around Sydney, as soon as possible. Can anyone who has had the procedure done recommend a surgeon for me? Thank you

  13. Part 2 hi kamille, in light of information received from mel re: possibility of swelling and haematoma from bodytite, i would like to have labiaplasty no earlier than 15th /16th may. please let me know if this is suitable for Dr Rushapol. Please also advise of * Dr usual pre op appointment process- will we speak online, review photographs, discuss expectations and outcomes prior to meeting in person for consult? *Dr preferred method of pain control - local anaesthetic or spinal /pudendal block. *Dr factors in determining which incision technique is optimal for me - wedge, amputation or laser deepithelialisation. * Dr determination if am i able to achieve a barbie-doll smooth look Thanks** 19/12/13 Dear ** Dr Rushapol is available on 15th May. Please see treatment plan confirming your appointment. There is no other appointment prior to your consultation. Discussion regarding the surgery will all be done during the face to face consultation. This procedure can be done either under local or general anesthesia. We do not offer procedures done under spinal anesthesia. I have asked Dr Rushapol regarding your two other questions and I’ll get back to you with his response. Best Regards, Kamille Foreign Coordinator Phuket International Aesthetic Cente PIAC Info 12/26/13 to me Dear *** I would like to reply on Kamille’s behalf. Dr. Rushapol advised that having wedge, amputation or laser deepithelialisation will provide a permanent side effect. His selected technique is by means of edge trimming. This technique will give you more natural result and the healing is more faster compared to other techniques. Dr. Rushapol cannot promise a “Barbie doll look” as it will depend on your labia base and aperture looseness. He would like to suggest to have it under General Anesthesia as he is afraid that you cannot stand with the pain if you will have it under Local Anesthesia. Labiaplasty under General Anesthesia has an estimated price of 60,000-100,000 THB. This price includes 1 night in the hospital (private room), surgeon’s fee, routine medications and follow up. Let me know how you would like to proceed. Best Regards, Katrina Garcia Foreign Coordinator Phuket International Aesthetic Center Hi Katrina Thank you for your detailed reply. Please allow me to clarify my needs. A general anaesthetic is not an option I would consider for non essential surgery unless it was deemed medically necessary for my survival during the procedure. I will give medical consent for a procedure under local anaesthesia. I will not give medical consent for a procedure to commence under a general anaesthetic. I will give consent for GA only if my surgeon has an unwanted and unforeseen medical event the would deem it necessary during my procedure under local anaesthesia. Could you please clarify the permanent side effect in relation to wedge, amputation or laser deepithelialisation that you spoke of in the last email? thanks, ************ Dear ********* I’ve forwarded your request for clarification to Dr. Rushapol. I will get back to you with his advice. Best Regards, Cristina Foreign Coordinator Phuket International Aesthetic Center Dear **************, I would like to ask if it’s possible to move your consultation at 11:00AM on 15th May? Please confirm. Thank you. Best Regards, Katrina Garcia Foreign Coordinator Phuket International Aesthetic Center Dear ************** Dr. Rushapol would like to stick on his previous recommendation- Labiaplasty under general anesthesia. Also, he doesn’t recommend a wedge technique. Do you mind if I transfer your case to another surgeon and get a 2nd opinion? Best Regards, Katrina Garcia Foreign Coordinator Phuket International Aesthetic Center Hi Katrina. Thank you for your email. Please clarify Dr Rushapols reasoning for GA - is this his usual method of operating, - is there a factor in my medical history or physicality that has determined this decision. -how does he determine the benefits of GA outweigh the risks, Please encourage him to be very specific in his reply as this will be a determining factor for me. Approx 95% of all labiaplasty surgeries in Au, USA and UK are performed under local anaesthesia (with or without oral/ IV sedation) and it would be extremely unusual for a surgeon to recommend GA against the preference of the patient unless there was a strong medical reason. Also, my question from the last email was "Could you please clarify the permanent side effect in relation to wedge, amputation or laser deepithelialisation that you spoke of in the last email" (dated 26/12/13) What is this permanent side effect? Please advise why the trim method is suggested. Please also describe this process - is the tissue infiltrated with a substance prior to trimming, what type of suture is used, Thank you for your offer of referral for 2nd opinion. Please accept this as my permission for you to disclose my information specific to this procedure to another surgeon only for consideration. Thanks, ** Dear ********* I’ve now passed your case to Dr. Thanakom who is familiar with the wedge technique. I will get back to you with his surgical recommendation. Best Regards, Cristina Foreign Coordinator Phuket International Aesthetic Center Dear ** Dr. Thanakom has reviewed your case and agreed to Labiaplasty using Wedge Excision technique under local anesthesia with sleeping pill sedation. This is 25,000-50,000 Thai baht. No hospital stay required. Best Regards Mel Foreign Coordinator Phuket International Aesthetic Cente HI again Mel. Has Dr Thanakom reviewed my photographs? Why does he recommended the wedge procedure for me? Why does he elect to use "sleeping pill" (what is this exactly, please) sedation and local anaesthesia?? please accurately answer my questions with detail as i am recording all correspondence and posting on Australian overseas plastic surgery forum. These are legitimate questions patient that deserve to be answered by a surgeon prior to agreeing to place MY LIFE in their hands. Thanks, Dear ********** I will pass on your questions to Dr. Thanakom and will get back to you. Best Regards Mel Foreign Coordinator Phuket International Aesthetic Center We now have a 6 day break – no comms from them at all - s o i emailed again Hi Mel/Cristina/Kamille Please advise the result of follow up by Dr Thanakom. (email, jan 11) Specifically #1 why is the wedge technique recommended for me? #2 what (if any) other options do I have? #3 will i need a support garment/medications/dressings etc? #4 my original quote was $872AUD (about 25000 baht) why is there such a large gap (25-50,000 baht) now? #5 what determines whether my surgery is 25000baht or 50000baht? #6 is my surgeon able to change his mind at the consultation - suggest a different technique better suited to my personal needs - or does the surgeon perform only wedge technique for all surgeries? #7 what is my pain protocol and how do I manage pain relief once I am discharged? # 8 what is my follow up plan? #9 will my surgeon give me a detailed list of exactly what will happen from the moment I walk into the hospital til I am discharged PRIOR to my consultation? thanks, * Dear * I will forward your questions to Dr. Thanakom and will get back to you. Best Regards, Cristina Foreign Coordinator Phuket International Aesthetic Center
