  1. Hi, I have been researching rhinoplasty for a while now, looking at surgeons in Australia and Thailand. I've finally taken the first step and booked a consultation with three surgeons in Thailand, Dr Kunachak, Dr Poomee and Dr Montein. I'm so appreciative of everyone who has posted on here, I think I've read every review on these doctors ... probably twice over. At the moment I'm most interested in Kunachak. I wonder if anyone has had recent experience with Prof Kunachak? All the reviews I've read are at least a year old, nothing recent. Also if anyone has a great surgeon they can recommend in Thailand or Sydney I'd love any advice. I want to have consultations with a few surgeons before making a decision. I'm still not sure if I will go ahead with rhinoplasty, there are so many factors to consider. I will post my experience re consults in the coming months so others can benefit from my experiences. Thanks
  2. So I am 4 days post op after a breast lift + 200cc smooth silicone implants over the muscle with Dr. Amorn Poomee at Bumrungrad Hospital, Bangkok - and I thought I'd help out the members of this forum and share my own experience, as I received so much help going into this surgery myself, and want to return the favour (Also please note: I couldn't fit my whole story in the one post, so read the first comment on this post as the 2nd half of my story) First off, I'll say I came to the decision of going with Dr. Poomee upon recommendations from friends who've had breast implants done by him and their boobs look fantastic, however I wasn't sure if a breast lift + implants would be as good or not, so I did LOADS of obsessive research online about who is the best in Thailand, as I knew I would be coming here for an extended period of time, and it seemed like the best place to get the procedure done at a reputable, clean hospital for a fraction of the price of back home (I'm from Australia). After hours and hours of research, I had narrowed down my top 3 surgeons as Dr. Poomee and Dr. Teerasit at Bumrungrad Hospital, Bangkok, and another surgeon who's name I can't recall at Yanhee Hospital, Bangkok. I'd heard mixed reviews (but mostly good) about Yanhee, and although Bumrungrad was my first choice I thought it would be wise to see a couple of different surgeons and hospitals to see who "felt" best to me. I made appointments at Bumrungrad and Yanhee, and sat back and waited for my appointment date. My first appointment was with my first choice surgeon, Dr. Poomee - he was my first choice as I've seen first hand the quality of his breast work (my friends' boob job is amazing, looks so natural) and I couldn't find a bad word about him online. Sure, he charges abit more than other surgeons at Bumrungrad, but this isn't like buying a pair of shoes - I understand the quality of the work varies greatly from surgeon to surgeon and I didn't want to go with a slightly cheaper option, and have them not be 100% perfect and wish I'd paid a little extra to get the best in the business (Dr. Poomee). I had an idea about what I thought I needed, but I took the advice of girls on this forum and went into my consultation with an open mind, fully prepared to take on board Dr. Poomee's advice as to what would suit me best. I'd been emailing him prior to our consult, and he was always very quick with the replies, very straight to the point but not rude or harsh in any way. I arrived at my appointment at the hospital (which is amazing, looks more like a hotel) and was attended to immediately by staff, weighed and had my blood pressure taken, and then I met with Dr. Poomee's wife, who assists with his breast patients. She asked me what bra size I hope to be at the end, and what I am here for - I said I want a lift primarily, but maybe implants as well - I just want my nice perky 19-year old self 10D breasts back (I'm 27 now, and although I've had no kids, weight loss/gains and changes in birth control has sucked the life from my front melons). She pinched my skin under the breast and showed what my breasts would look like if I only got a breast lift, and explained they would not sag as much as they do now but they won't have the upper pole support I am hoping for if I don't get implants as well. The way she demonstrated it and showed me what a lift would look like, made it so simple - I could tell my research online was right - I'd probably need a lift + implants to get nice perky boobs. Not that I (or my boyfriend for that matter) were complaining! It only costs an extra $1400 to get implants slipped in at the same time as the breast lift surgery, and if I'm gonna do it I want the best boobs possible! She asked me what implant size I want and I said I didn't know, but I just want to be a full 10D bra size again. She gave me a 10D bra to try on and suggested 200cc implants - they filled the bra perfectly and seemed like a great fit. My boyfriend (who was allowed to come in and help) agreed, but just to be sure I tried 175cc, 225cc, and 150cc... None seemed to fill the bra as well as the 200cc. Once I'd decided on the implants I liked (if I did decide to go ahead with implants) I was sent in to see the doctor himself. Dr. Poomee is a top guy - friendly, funny and very helpful. He answered all my questions before I even asked them, but as per the advice of members on this forum I had written down some questions I specifically wanted answered incase he didn't address them - he was more than happy to answer all my silly questions. He showed me many photos of his work, and showed me what breast lift alone would look like, then the two procedures combined... He also explained why he thinks I would be best suited to a lift + implants, and my boyfriend and I agreed with his opinion. We then moved on to discussing size, texture, over/under the muscle, and saline vs silicone implants... He explained everything so well, and I trusted his opinion - after all he is one of the best in the business. Do yourself a favour and don't go into your consult with all these set ideas as to what specifics you want, because your friends' boob job is so good and you want yours like hers.. Every body and every breast is different, and if you take the surgeons advice you will be glad you did. Anyway so by the end of my consult with Dr. Poomee, I was sold. I called the other appointments and cancelled them on the spot, and scheduled my surgery with Dr. Poomee for 2 months later the very next day (I wanted to book on the spot, but he advised I take a couple of days to think it over and be sure). In the meantime I did some research and posted photos of my boobs on other websites to get American surgeons opinions on what is needed to get my 19-year old boobies back... Their advice mirrored that of Dr. Poomee's, so I felt confident in his advice. When the day for my ore-surgery appointment finally arrived (2 days before my surgery) I arrived and was once again seen immediately by the very efficient and friendly staff, tried the implants on again with the doctor's wife to be sure they are still what I wanted (still the perfect fit) and sat down with Dr. Poomee again to go through everything that would be happening on my surgery date. He answered any fresh questions I had, and I was sent off to pay for the surgery, have blood tests done and everything was finalized. I wasn't nervous at all - they were so professional and put my mind completely at ease. The night before my surgery I couldn't sleep a wink, I was so excited that my surgery date was finally here. Luckily I was due at the hospital at 6am, for surgery at 7am, so I didn't have to wait long. I arrived at the check-in counter at Bumrungrad's emergency department at 5:50am, told them who I was and I was quickly prepped for surgery - no delays or long waits like an Australian hospital! I removed my jewellery and clothes which were all locked away (and safely returned to my hospital recovery suite after my surgery) and I changed into a gown. Dr. Poomee came to visit me at 6:25am, drew the markings for the incisions on my breasts, took some photos and had a quick chat. Then his wife came to visit and calm any nerves I may have (I had none), and then the anesthesiologist came to ask about any allergies or previous issues with anesthesiology, and by 6:50pm I was getting wheeled to the operating room. I was amazed at how quick and efficient the entire process was - this is so different to our hospitals back home. Once inside the operating room they moved me onto the operating bed, and Poomee's wife was right by my side holding my hand, chatting and rubbing my body, tucking my toes under the blanket so I didn't get cold... She was like my mum! She held my hand right until I fell into a deep drug-induced sleep. Surgery had begun. When I woke up some time later, I had a nurse waiting for me who asked how I was feeling, and then wheeled me to my suite where my boyfriend and my belongings were already waiting for me and man, that recovery suite is NICE! I've stayed in 5-star hotels which aren't as nice as this suite! I was pretty drugged up but had no pain whatsoever - I had a drip in my arm and bandages and a Velcro-strapped bra over my chest. A short time later, Dr. Poomee came in to visit me and asked how I was feeling, said the surgery went well and he didn't even need to do the extra "anchor" incision along the crease of my breast's mammary-fold (which is very common with breast lift surgery). I was surprised, as I thought that incision was standard for this procedure (he did tell me in our consults that he may not need to do it, but I just expected that I would have to have it). So I was very happy - the only incisions were around my nipples and one incision down to the bottom of my breast - typically called the "lollipop incision". I was so doped up I cheered him and said "you the man Poomee!! Only lollipop, yay!!" He laughed and promised he'd return the following day to check on me again. The rest of the day I was pretty out of it, but in no pain at all - I kept waiting for it to hit me but nothing did. I felt abit stiff, and was under strict instruction not to lift my arms or move too much - which is fine, because I was asleep most of the time anyway. Nursing staff were in a constant flow checking on me, bringing me pain medication and antibiotics and asking how I was feeling, if I needed anything, and assisting me to go to the toilet (even wiping for me!). They were amazing, I didn't expect such great service or such a high level of English understanding and speaking from them. The food was tasty and filling as well, absolutely no complaints there. Staff gave me a sleeping tablet that night, and I drifted easily into a deep sleep. (read first comment to continue story)
  3. Hi ladies! I've just joined after FINALLY deciding to take the plunge and get a plunge. I always wanted breasts, but when puberty hit ten years ago and I only got to a 32AA- I knew it wasn't going to happen. I'm planning out for several months but after doing some research- feel like I've found my doctor. If anyone has any words of advice or reviews on Dr. Poomee at Bumrungrad or Dr. Komwit Kaewchaijaroenkit- it would be much appreciated! I was initially only going to go for a small C, but the more I've read, the more women I've spoken to with the surgery, and the more photos I look at- I'm thinking more of a D? I don't exactly know how CCs correlate to cup size- but I believe that would be around 325-350ccs? Any advice would be helpful, this has always been in the back of my mind and I'm so excited- I just want to make sure I do this the right way with all the correct information and instructions! Thanks so much!
  4. Hi girls So i'm having my BA in November and i'm extremely excited and nervous! I've heard amazing things about Dr Poomee online and my best friend recently went to Bangkok and had a BA and lift by Dr Teerasit and she looks amazing (i was originally going to go through him but Dr Poomee has won me over with what i've read about him). I'm just wondering does anyone have any pictures of his work (before and afters or just afters) or know where i can find some to check out? Thanks everyone!
  5. Ive noticed on this forum quite a bit that most people have had their BA's done by Dr Preeyaphas. I am booked in to see Poomee in december this year and now I am considering changing to Preeyaphas after seeing some of his work. Has anyone been to Poomee? When I was researching he came up as a renound doctor but I cant find ayone who has been to him?
  6. After a long, complicated process of twists called life, I came to the decision about two months ago that I needed to have breast reduction surgery in Thailand. There's a whole list of reasons for choosing overseas surgery instead of having it done here in Aus, most of which are part of the 'complicated twists' I mentioned, and with the unending process here in Aus of having to justify again and again that you are having the surgery for something other than cosmetic reasons. I am a size 20H, and have for years been stuck in the catch-22 of not being able to exercise because of back pain and having increasing pain and health problems (size 20! argh!) because I don't exercise enough. The huge breasts and pain started long before the weight gain, but all that seems to matter now is that my BMI is over the magical 30 that they need you under to operate. I personally think that all I need to say to justify the breast reduction is "I'm an H cup". Have you seen an H cup? Cosmetic issues are the least of my concerns. So why Thailand? I am a nurse, and as my work is physically challenging (there's that daily back pain) I'll have to take 4 weeks off (the maximum annual leave they'll let me take at one time) to recover, and will go mad with boredom if I'm stuck at home. Besides which, I'd still have to travel to Brisbane or one of the other capitals for the surgery, and be stuck paying Aussie prices for hotels, as I wouldn't take a risk on hostel cleanliness post-op. So, after a LOT of researching and poring through reviews and forums such as this one -- which is a WONDERFUL site, thank heavens for it! -- I'd finally decided that the only surgeon in Bangkok I'd be comfortable operating on me was Dr Poomee, despite the extra cost which made him about the same price as having the surgery here in Australia (and that's before airfares or expenses!) after medicare rebates. However, after a few emails I sent him my photos as requested -- which was horrifying and humiliating, seeing the 'boulders' from a perspective/angle other than "down" -- and he wrote back that my breasts were too big, and he only does cosmetic breast reductions, whereas mine would be termed "reconstructive breast reduction". Well, that was a suprise, after all the fabulous reviews of him, and the fact that he had over 20 years experience in the USA. The idea that breast reduction is best suited to only slightly enlarged women drives me as batty as the fact that most breast minimiser bras only go up to about an E. Who the f"*&! needs a breast MINIMISER bra more than the women OVER this cup size??????!! What on earth is an A, B, C, D woman trying to minimise, anyway?? Argh! So obviously, I'm now thinking that the only reason he has such a good reputation is because he only takes easy cases..... and that doesn't make a good surgeon, just a shrewd one. Moreover, despite my self-deprecating remarks about losing weight in just about every email I'd written to him -- including the very first one stating that I didn't want to book the operation until October to give me time to lose weight -- he finished the email with a zinger of a line that felt more like the punchline of an insult than caring medical advice: "By the way, you should lose weight before the surgery". Well, yes, Dr, I've already stated as much several times, but thank you for so carefully wording it in a way that would sound like medical advice and not a fat slur. Furthermore, when I asked who he would recommend in his place, one of the three names he gave me is not listed on Bumrungrad as having any interest or experience in breast anything, let alone reductions, which is a world away from BA's. So I don't have much faith in the other two recommendations/any advice from him, either. Argh!! So, I am writing this now for two reasons: (1) a warning to be cautious with the glowing reports of the aforementioned Dr. (2) I had already ruled out pretty much all the other Thai Drs and now, going back through all of the copious notes and reams of computer paper, I am still at a loss. Most of these posts seem to be about BA's. So, I turn to you guys with a question and a plea for advice from those who have been in the trenches, so to speak: Has anybody had a breast reduction in Bangkok, preferably at the Bumrungrad hospital, with a cup size that was initially larger than an E???? Which surgeon did you choose? What was the outcome/what or who would you recommend? And did you develop any post-op complications (some hospital-acquired infections take weeks to become apparent and the hospitals usually don't take responsibility by that point, so Bumrungrad's sterling reputation for such might just be dodgy statistics)......???? Help, please!?!? Oh, and thanks for reading - Emma
  7. Hi All I'm booked in with Dr Poomee @ Bumrungrad in April to have an areola lift with implants, but have yet to see any of his before and afters. I also haven't seen any B&A of an areola lift. Are there any ladies out there who have had this incision and are willing to show me their B&As please? Even better if you've had it done with Dr Poomee. Thanks in advance! Terrie
  8. Hi Guys, So I thought I would start my own thread for my journey. As some of you may know I was booked in with Dr. Poomee in October, who I have already had a consult with. After I found out the warranty was void on implants done in Thailand I felt I was in two minds about it. After I pay for surgery plus flights I will be looking at around $7,000. Therefore I have decided to stay in Aus and get in done just for that extra peice of mind, the money does not concern me all too much. I have booked 3 consults and would love to hear from any ladies who stumble across this thread and find I am seeing your surgeon! 1. Dr. Craig Rubinstein 2. Dr. Tim Brown 3. Dr. Mark Ashton I have already had a phone consult with Dr. Kim Harwood who is lovely. I decided to have a phone consult with him because all his after photos on this forum are fantastic!! He was SO honest and told me to see some surgeons in Melbourne and try get a medicare rebate, as I have some complications with my breasts. In addition I have private health so it's worth a shot! I just want to add that I am kind of thrown by the detailed information Dr. Harwood provided me in contrast to the 15 minute consult I had with Dr. Poomee. They both had very different suggestions. Dr. Poomee was happy to put a normal 300cc implant in round/moderate. Where kim suggested XHP 350cc teardrops as I need to lift and project my breast to avoid a 'double bubble' and he said moderate profile wouldn't be suitable as my chest wall is wide. 2 very different opinions so I am interested to see how the next 3 consults go!
  9. Hi guys - this forum has been so helpful in getting me to this point in my decision making, and I'm hoping someone out there can help me with a few little personalized enquiries in regards to my breast lift and/or implants surgery in Bangkok, Thailand. I'm an Aussie living overseas, and I'm relocating to Thailand in a few weeks. I've scheduled a consult appointment soon after my arrival with Dr. Poomee at Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok (he's my first choice) and also as a second option I've got an appointment at Yanhee Hospital with Dr. Thawatchai. I plan to speak to both, see who I prefer and hopefully schedule surgery for early October. I've researched the hell out of Dr. Poomee and like what I've heard, but as for Yanhee's surgeon choice - they recommended him and I don't know much about his work. Has anyone had breast work done with him? Wondering if anyone out there has had either breast lift or breast lift with augmentation with either of these surgeons, and if they'd be willing to share photos or at least their experiences with me. I'm concerned about the scarring, and how much it heals over time, and also how long their recovery was. Additionally, if anyone has any suggestions of cheap but comfortable accommodation close to either Bumrungrad or Yanhee, I'd love some tips. My boyfriend is coming with me, and we want somewhere affordable and preferably not more than 10 minutes drive away. Thanks again, and I hope someone out there can share their experiences!
