  1. Hey everyone, I recently had a consultation with A Greensmith who was amazing, very professional and personable and I knew straight away I would trust my nose in his hands. The only thing is his price, which although I think is pretty good for a plastic surgeon with his amazing reputation and reviews, I'd have to get a loan to cover the out of pocket cost of approx $12,750 which is including the anesthetic fees and there's a chance an assistant might rock up on the day which will cost me $400 on top of it! My hospital fees etc will be covered by health insurance and medicare will cover some too, but the cost is still pushing my budget a tad too much that I'm considering looking at an ENT instead whose fees I have read are usually less than half of what AG quoted. I know that you get what you pay for, but I have read good things about Perry Burstin although there isn't too much info on him, doesn't look like he even has a website? Can anyone tell me how you had to wait to get an consult with him, and then how long the surgery waiting list was? Also if you had anything cosmetic done at the same time as septoplasty by him how did that turn out? I want my bridge straightened and tip reduced, but I don't want to end up with a ski slope or piggy nostrils. Basically any information on him would be really helpful. Although I have my heart set on AG, I would really like someone less pricey who can give me a good natural result. I'd really appreciate any help and advice, thanks in advance! xx
  2. Hi everybody:), So I found this forum whilst spending hours on end looking for surgeons with good reviews! Let me tell you, it's been such a nerve racking task just to research all these different surgeons, let alone actually choose and commit to surgery with one. I have a consultation with C.M next week which was purely by default due to the fact that a friend just recently had a hump reduction done with him and cannot stop raving about how good he is - however after some research, it seems that maybe he is only highly recommended based on the amount of publicity he is getting from tv shows etc. Basically, I am after any advice and any personal experiences that anybody can give me based on any surgeon! If you have a surgeon that you feel is fantastic, please let me know. This is a massive decision both physically and mentally for me and I really don't want to get it wrong! Also, I'm hoping to have a hump reduction and possibly a slight lift on my nose just to make it match my face once the massive hump I have is gone, so if anybody has before and afters with the surgeon they recommend, and are comfortable to share, please do! Any help and advice would be appreciated immensely:confused:! Also, if you recommend to stay away from any particular surgeon, please let me know. So completely nervous about who to choose and how to choose! Thanks guys!! P.S I'm in Melbourne, so preferably looking at having surgery and any surgeons based in Melbourne!
  3. I was just wondering if anyone has been to a consultation with Dr Dean Smith. I cant find a website and start to wondering if I should go to someone else. I have booked in two consultations through the websites below as well because I heard that its better to sit down with a few surgeons before having a rhinoplasty. http://rhinoplastymelbourne.net.au/ http://www.leungent.com.au/ Is there any other plastic surgeons in Melbourne that anyone can recommend? Cheers,
  4. I just posted this in the general forum also as I didn't realise there was one just for rhinoplasty! Sorry for the double up!! 😁 I have 2 consultations booked in for end of Jan/early Feb 2014 for rhinoplasty. One with Allan Kalus, one with Keith Mutimer. Does anyone have any personal experience with either of these surgeons? Allan Kalus does the procedure 'closed', which is great as it leaves minimal bruising.. But I've read that the end result may not be 100% perfect. Does anyone have any opinions on open vs closed rhinoplasty? I'm not too fussed on their bed side manner. I'm just wanting to get the dr who is ultimately going to do the best job!! Any replies would be appreciated!

  6. I'm 18, I've had trouble breathing through my nose for years. I went to a local ENT and had my terbinates reduced, and then 9 months later he suggested I also have a septoplasty (neither helped). So now I'm stuck with a huge nose that doesn't even work I'd appreciate any help about costs, personal stories, surgeons, how long the whole process took, results.. I don't have private health insurance, to be honest I don't really understand what type of cover I need. I'm totally lost and I don't have anywhere to start. I'm keen to get this process started so any help would be truly appreciated!
  7. Hi all, I have been researching primary rhinoplasty for months now and today I finally worked up the courage to call Melb Plastic Surgery to book a consult with Graeme Southwick. At first I was told I'd need to see Denise (practice nurse maybe?) first and would be unlikely to see GS til September, but when I expressed my dismay, the person I spoke to checked with someone and said he has a cancellation for SURGERY in 3 weeks if I were interested (!!) and if so that I could skip the consult with Denise and see GS in 2 weeks (6 days before surgery if I go ahead with it). Knowing how lucky I was to be offered such an early appt, I went ahead and booked the initial consult, but now I'm freaking at the thought of going ahead with surgery. No doubt I'd be freaking even if I'd booked it months ago lol, but I do wonder if perhaps it's a bit too rushed?? I should explain that after all my research I've settled on either Graeme Southwick or Stephen Kleid. I'm sure none of you would be surprised about GS; there are a huge number of glowing reviews on this site and not a single negative review that I could find (but please PM me if you've had a bad/mediocre experience!!). However, for some reason Stephen Kleid doesn't seem to be as favoured on this site. Although I haven't been able to find anywhere near as many reviews on SK, the ones I have seen are all very positive, and the fact that he does a large number of revision rhinoplasties suggests (to me at least) that he must be very skilled. Plus I found his website informative and got the impression that he'd be very friendly and approachable. So ideally I'd like to see him as well as GS in the next couple of weeks, so that I can compare the two and cancel my (very newly acquired!) surgery date with GS if I decide SK is a much better fit for me. I've just tried calling SK's rooms to make an appt but unfortunately they're closed til Monday, so I'll try again then. Also in case any of you suggest Andrew Greensmith instead, I know he's also very popular on this site but from my research both GS and SK have been practicing for much longer and are qualified as both ENTs and plastic surgeons, which gives me greater peace of mind. So back to my original question, can anyone share their thoughts? I've never had PS before so I'm not sure if just one consult before surgery is normal or if you'd usually have several for primary rhinoplasty - what has been the case for others? And should 6 days be enough time following the initial consult to process everything, feel confident in the surgeon/procedure and get prepared? Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated re: the consult/surgery timeframe, and also any experiences people have had with Graeme Southwick or Stephen Kleid. Thank you! xx
