What exactly does labia plasty involve?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, My gf has just told me she is unhappy with her vagina after giving birth to her last child and wanted to look into surgery. I told her I would ask on here to get a bit of info for her to start with. Can anyone tell me what the surgery involves and what other surgeries are around for that area? She has said its both the appearance and that it has lost its ummm tightness lol thanks in advance people. x

Labiaplasty is to make the inner labia smaller, it doesn't affect the vaginal opening, as in tightness.

I can recommend a very good female surgeon in Brisbane who uses a unique technique for labiaplasty, as in she doesn't just chop the labia off which takes a lot of those very important nerve endings with it, but for the other issues she would need to see an ob/gyn. This is a fairly common problem after childbirth particularly if a woman has had an episiotomy or in some cases 2 or 3! As you can imagine tearing and or cutting of the vaginal opening does a lot of damage and when they stitch you up afterwards they often do a very average job, and I guess that's at least partly because the area is so swollen and bruised after giving birth!

Oh I am glad I found this thread! My GF has had 3 kids naturally too and unfortunately with the first child was not sewn up properly. That child is now 12 years old and my poor GF still suffers with pain there. I would love to know the surgeon too if that is okay so I can pass the info onto her.

There's different techniques. My partner and I watched a documentary called The Vagina Diaries. A lot of it talked about the porn industry and how there's been an increase in labiaplasty purely for cosmetic reasons, they talked about the medical issues and then they showed an actual surgery being done. All I remember is the surgeon saying something about different techniques and having more control but don't remember the exact specifics. You can also get vaginal rejuvenation where it's tightened back up but she needs to do her homework as not a lot of surgeons do this. How old is her last child? I've been told it can take awhile to go back to normal. I also had an old work colleague tell me things were never the same for her again with tightness. I would think first step would be to be referred to a gynocolegist for an exam. Some gynos can do surgery just make sure they have the medical training. They also may have recommendations for a good plastic surgeon who's results they have seen.
