Incision - under the breast vs under the arm

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am yet to have mine done but l will be going under the crease because l have read that's what a lot of surgeons prefer because there's less risk of bacteria there then say under the arm.

I scar easily and thought that if I'm getting boobs, I don't want a final result of awesome looking boobs with visible scars underneath them.

A lot of girls say that it would only be them and their partner that would see it, but to me, that's the point - we would see them, and every time I looked in the mirror, I would see them, and they would take away from the boobs.

I was also worried about the bra/crop/bikini rubbing against scars under the breast, in the first instance when they were healing, and then if it were to slow down the healing process after that. It's not like you flash your armpits at people, so my way of thinking is that my scars will fade over time and just look like a crease in the armpit, as they cut along a crease anyway, and no one will ever need to know.

But it does seem to be very few girls that have the armpit incision. Yes, it does take longer to recover, and I am so surprised at how much muscle/arm strength I have lost (but am regaining).  Also had restricted movement in the arms for the first week, and still have a bit of numbness in my upper left arm (which is going away), but even after all that, I would still personally prefer the transax incision.

My PS actually said the result is more accurate with an endoscopic transax too (camera guided), which is what I had.

Also, I just remembered - my underarms did not sweat for the first week or 2 after my op - obviously the nerves get rattled and takes a bit for them to figure it all out again. In Thailand, this hit me harder as it would have in Aust as it is so hot/humid, but I stayed in the AC or had a shower more often. I did feel the heat more than usual because of this, and I noticed my forehead and bottom sweated more during that time to compensate (sorry about TMI, but that is why we are all here I guess)  :)

I've had both

The transax approach has a higher risk for complications and I indeed did suffer rupture and CC eventually (if the 2 were related who knows)....

I am a single girl and can honestly say that the crease doesn't bother me and I am more then happy to have it again and again.
