Keep changing my mind for BA & BL. Perth or Thailand????

Recommended Posts

One day I want to go to Thailand for my BA and BL... but the then the next day I change my mind and want to stay in Australia for it.

I just cant seem to find a surgeon in Perth who I know is amazing at what I want. Plus its so much more expensive!!

Can anyways please give me their experiences and views on this? :)

The idea of surgery overseas scared me. I didn't even give it a second thought. Great surgeons, great follow up, known medical practices close to home.

(This is my own personal view and in no way minimises the experiences or choices of others who have decided to go o/s)

Agree with Bec Bec, it is a personal choice.  There are ladies on the forum that have had fantastic experiences and some not so good both in Australia and overseas.  For me personally I need the peace of mind that if anything went wrong I could get to them without having to worry about a passport etc. What about TCI in Sydney - what are the flights like from Perth to there?  I'm 7 hours drive or approx. 1 hour flight to my Dr.

I do think it is a personal decision, I was terrified of the surgery and post op complications so was very relieved to go with a PS in Perth who I felt 100% comfortable with, kept in over night where I was looked after and I've had brilliant post op care. My PS is a phone call away and this has been very handy with a persistent pocket of fluid and swelling on one side. To be able to call and go in for unscheduled check ups means I don't feel like I'm flying blind. It's been perfect for me.

Who was your surgeon in Perth? Are you happy with your results? I am in WA. I was only thinking of going to Sydney because I really cant decide on a surgeon here in Perth.

I went with Dr Tony Connell, he has a reputation as being THE boobs man in Perth. I met with the office of another surgeon and they were not very helpful with regard to asymmetry and a nipple correction which I required, Tony's office were across it all. Additionally I was keen to go with a surgeon who kept you in over night, I don't do well after GA so this was important to me, Tony was one of very few I could find who keeps you in overnight. We are quite lucky in Perth though and there are a number that have extremely good reputations. I personally couldn't look past Tony after my research on him and then after meeting him, he is though one of the more expensive Perth PS options.

Ok thank you, I will give them a call tomorrow. Where can I see some of his work, he doesn't have a website?

Nope he has no website and isn't on social media, he isn't that type of PS and he doesn't need the work, he gets majority of the reconstructive breast surgery in Perth and specialises with breasts. I could not find a bad word about him, believe me I searched far and wide. He showed me examples of his work based on what sizes we were interested in for me.

There is a Tony Connell support thread on the forum if you are interested you could pull that up. Quite a few previous patients are on here, Southerngirl is one of the more recent ones!

Thanks so much, I will check it out.

Hey hun yes I'm a tony girl too, had surgery back in March and really happy. I've just seen your FR so I'll accept it now. I've had mine for over six months now, almost 7 and all going great so far :)

Personally I would stay in Perth and have your BL & BA, from my personal experience I went over to Phuket to have my BL & BA and am now looking at revision due to complications. However you do hear wonderful reviews from other girls experiences in Phuket however if there is a concern or complication after you arrive home the aftercare in my opinion not up to standard!

I have meant with dr Connell for my revision and straight away knew he was my surgeon I needed to help my boobs become what I want them to be!! Completely felt comfortable with him and didn't judge me for my pervious Plastic surgery experience ( as I had heard some PS in Perth refuse to do revision on OS surgeries or make u feel like crap for making that choice in the first place)

However it is a personal choice and I'm sure you will make the right choice for your own BA experience. Good luck

I am booked for a BA & BL in Bangkok for May and wish that I could cancel and do it in AUS to feel more confident but my flights and accomodation is paid already, no backing out now! I think the most important thing is to research your chosen surgeon THOROUGHLY and do not fall for fake reviews as they do exist... I am just praying I'll be in the happy percentage and if not- Medical insurance, medical insurance, medical insurance!!!

I looked into both Australia (Sydney) and overseas, I decided to stay here mainly because I want to know exactly what I'm getting before I commit to anything.

I was booked in for surgery in South America December last year. But due to family reason I had to cancel. But I had a consult with the doctor anyway because I really liked his work. I wanted a recommendation from him. I went there and he said the maximum he could put in was 250cc whereas here in Sydney I got recommended 290 - 320cc by two surgeons which I'm a lot happier with. So I'm really glad that it fell through.

My problem now is that I keep changing my mind about surgery. I was meant to go into the office to pay a deposit on Tuesday. But I didn't go. Deep down I feel like this is the body that gives me my earning capacities hence enables me to travel, to share my adventures and look after my family. As much as I want bigger and shapelier boobs, I'm not sure if I'm prepared for the consequences if anything does go wrong. This is probably the most indecisive moment in my life. Sigh

Also remember that a BL + BA has a really high revision rate, around 25%, it's one of the trickiest surgeries there is. It's 2 different procedures on 2 separate breasts. If you have an ethical Aussie PS they'll sort any issues no problem, but make sure you ask you PS in your consult what happens if something needs tweaking, who pays etc

Perth! So not worth th complications!

I've been over there and over here and feel like overseas they wipe their hands off you once you leave. Why risk such a delicate surgery. But that's just my opinion as I needed so many revisions and I was covered here where as if you go there and come back here you end up spending just as much/if not more on more surgeries. X

Im putting my trust in Tonys advice on implant size, Just hope I'm happy with the size and they aren't too small. I'm a c cup now but that's all stretchy skin pushed into a bra
