Tummy tuck tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

I have been counting down to this day for so long. I'm having my tummy tuck with hernia and mr at 8am. Eeek! Feeling nervous and excited.

I'm having it as day surgery so hopefully I'll be up to giving an update after surgery for anyone who's interested in hearing how I go as day surgery

:)

Hi MSP 123, Hope all goes well for you tomorrow.  I would be really interested in following your progress, especially as it is day surgery!! I didn't know they would do that.  I hope to be having one soonish, although I haven't seen the surgeon yet, and was thinking I would be an inpatient for 4 or 5 days?  Anyhow, let us know how you go!!

Thanks everyone. I'm home at my mums place now for recovering. Kids will stay at my home with hubby and mother in law as I think it will be easier on my 1 year old that way.

So they had me up and walking 2 hours after surgery( down a hall way to the recovery room) then another hour there and walked to toilet and then to car. Then from car to theatre room at my mums.

The pain is mostly at the top of my abs but it's only when I need to move. I have had endone sp* so that took the edge off the pain and I'd say it's quite tolerable.

I am feeling a little nauseous so just having rice cakes and water with benefiber.

I go back for my post op check up on Thursday. I had a bread look at my tummy before the binder was put on but I couldn't see much but the surgeon said he was really pleased with how it went and he was so lovely and caring.

I'm not sure what to expect over the next couple days.

Hi Nessa no I had mine as day surgery. So my op was at 8am and I was home round 3pm.

I don't have private health insurance so it was offered to me as day surgery if I thought I could do it.

My surgeon doesn't offer it to many people and he said he needs to feel that the person is quite motivated with a positive mindset or he won't do it that way at all.

I also had to see a specialist physio before surgery to help with pain management strategies and very helpful ways to manoeuvre my body in various situation so as to minimise the pain.

I'm quite surprised with how I'm going and I only have pain when I do need to move but it is more sore than painful.

It's more common as day surgery in America but we haven't quite caught on yet but it is possible.

ooh wow, good luck tonight!

I could have gone home the morning after mine (i had my op at 3:30pm) but decided to stay 2 nights just for luxury. Like you..the pain was ok just discomfort but the first night wasnt much fun (sorry just being honest!) but because I was done later might have just been the initial pain

I knew you could do it Msp!!! Told you that you'd ace it!!!

Seriously it is all mindset I think. Some peoole need weeks and weeks to recuperate but Im not sure what they do for all that time. I was bored after a couple of days and needed my life back. Im so glad I didn't sit about for ages.

I can't wait to aee your brilliant results.

Bussogirl I am thinking of you too and I hope it all went wonderfully for you.

Well done Msp! You are braver than me!

I had my surgery at 9am - it only took 1.5 hours! I was prepared for the swelling (hot topic on here) but not prepared for the pain!!

They had me up too only a couple of hours after getting back to my room! I almost passed out from the pain/stress on my body.

But I have gotten up 3 more times ( on my own) very proud of my self. I'm comfortable sitting/lying, just moving around hurts. I'll be staying another night :)

I have a drain in, dr says he'll leave it for at least a week. Tummy is so flat!!

Thanks for all the well wishes xxx

Yay Bussogirl! We have joined the flat side :) although it feels very early to celebrate. I'm feeling quite sore at the top of my tummy this morning.

Sounds like your doing really well too. Aren't the drains interesting. I already feel life it will be much better once they are out. I'm bending so low when I walk, I think I'm scared to I'm bending more than necessary.

Here's to a smooth recovery for us :)

P.s I'm scared to have a look at my tummy still. Think I'll pass out. Have u felt up to looking at it when I get the chance?

That sounds great! Glad you are both doing well :)

Oh the drains were the worst part for me so once they were out I was happy (24 hrs for one, 48 for the other!)..your tummy wont look that bad, covered in tape etc and nothing like out of a horror movie! ;) Cant wait to see pics!

Thanks ladies, I managed to get a quick pic without binder so will add that the my profile if I remember how.

Funny you say that MaggieMay I thought about the old man next door who has one of those walkers on wheels with the handlebars and a seat if u need a rest. It would look so funny but could be great.

But I guess as I'm only walking about 10m to the bathroom at this stage it might be over kill.

My paperwork says to walk like this for a week before straightening up. My back will be sore :(

Hi everyone!

Day 3----the pain, I must be such a wuss. I had a little complain last night to hubby, don't want to complain to much and seem ungrateful. I know what time and money sacrifices we had to do make my surgery a reality. But I'm sick of walking hunched over, the strain it puts on my back is un-bearable :(

I'm sleeping comfortably and can get around easy enough, my back is just so sore.

The pain meds make me feel nauseated and I don't have any appetite - gee listen to me complain. I was thinking my recovery would be me sitting comfortably on the lounge eating tim tams!

My drain has to stay in for at least a week, no big deal though, it's the least of my worries.

Any one have any tips on how to ease my sore back??

Thanks for listening to me girls x
