Haematoma or burst blood vessels

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with a haematoma or burst blood vessels post surgery.

When i got my first follow up call from the nurses, i mentioned that i had a massive red bruise under the righty, and was told thats pretty normal, so thought nothing of it as it didn't get bigger or redder, and over the following days there was no pain etc and it started changing back to a more normal purplish bruise colour and its since been going down and theres no pain.

Today at my first post op, she seemed a bit worried and took some photos into the surgeon, and they want me to come back in a week to check on it, and to keep a close eye on it and report any changes and to essentially baby my right side.

I guess I'm just freaking out a little, but has anyone had one before and how would they normally treat one?

It's not quite the same, but I had a massive heamatoma down stairs after when I  had my last baby. They actually had to take me back to surgery to stitch it to stop the bleeding.

They are caused by bleeding. The best thing is yours stopped itself so i guess they just want to make sure it doesn't keep bleeding. Once the bleeding stopped it's just a huge and painful bruise that takes ages to go.  Good luck I hope everything is ok. Remember to not over do it.

Yeah, it seems to not be getting any worse, in fact i have been keeping a really close eye on it and taking photos so i may go back and check through them side by side.

Have been told to essentially baby it.

I think mumxofx3 had a similar thing. Here's a link to her post about it . Does it look similar?

Tyanks for that link vivian, it did look like that inititally, now its a darker more purplish colour and yellowing round the edges, spoke to the nurse again and she said it looks like its aging and she's not too concerned just that its best to check it regularly and for me to keep a close eye on it.
