siltape, how often are you meant to change it?

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies,

I just got a box of siltape and was wondering how often you are meant to change it?

Do you take it off before showering? and if yes, do you replace it with a new one or can you reuse it?

Can I still use bio oil while using the siltape, and will the siltape still stick after I use the bio oil?

Thanks ladies :)

I found 4 days was the longest I could get out of a bit before it got too stretchy. My process (not sure if it's the right one but it's what I worked out) was to remove it in the shower then put it back on the plastic and let it dry then put it back on before bed. I typically shower with the kids between 5pm and 7pm so it had time to dry. I tried vitamin e oil, palmers body butter and silicon gel under it but it doesn't stick properly so now I put stuff on straight after the shower then wipe it off with a baby wipe before reapplying the Siltape hoping that the cream has penetrated in the 4 hours that the tape wasn't on..

I can reuse siltape for 14 days no problem

.

I often forget to take it off before a shower, does not seem to effect it

So yes you keep on reusing it.

And no you can't use any kind of oil / cream under it.

Has to go on clean dry skin.

Hope this helps.

that sounds like a great method to follow. I think I will try it, you get to reuse the tape (cost effective) and still get the benefits ouut of continuing the bio oil too.

thanks Vivian for the tip :)

When you keep it on during showering, do you need to fully dry it prior to dressing?

I found I could only wear mine for about 3 or 4 days before it would start falling off but I wore it in the shower. Once it started to wear off I just washed it under warm water and let it air dry sticky side up and put the plastic back in once dry so dust didn't stick to it.

Hi all,

I have my Siltape on 5th day and it's still stick as new. I don't take it off for showering.

My doctor told me it would peel off after couple of days or so, but I guess every skin is different. And also that massages and Bio Oil is not necessary if silicone tapes are used - they constantly moisture the scar so don't need to be oiled. I will probably use bio oil when scars are healed a bit more and siltapes are not required anymore (1 months after surgery).
