Personal hygene after TT

Recommended Posts

So today I heard my husband is going to have to wipe my bum after TT.

is this true?

obviously in hospital (once my bowels get moving, which I believe will take a while) I will have nurses there to help if need be, but on day 4, 5 and onwards (at home), I should be able to wipe myself right?

Hi, I had my TT yesterday and I can wipe, no number 2s yet but I'm confident I could manage that on my own.

I had a shower today 16 hours after surgery, I decided not to wash my hair as I would then have to dry it etc and I was stuffed after the shower. Will do my hair tomorrow.

I think perhaps you needed a lot of additional help we didn't Nessa because your surgery was much more demanding on your body than a basic TT with MR. Didn't you have an extended TT with a lot of tissue removed? My incision only went hip to hip so toileting really wasnt a problem.

Fillmyfootysocks- i was up right away. I got out to the ward after 8pm. Stayed in bed til 8am ish. Got up and shuffled to the bathroom with a nurse holding my arm.

She switched shower on for me and I asked to be left to manage it myself. I sat on one of those plastic shower chairs.

For me there was no issue lifting my arms up. That's not where yhe pain was for me.

I think maybe if you have breast surgery it would be painful.

Seriously once you have given birth a few times you are a lot tougher than you give yourself credit for! As a mum you are used to just getting on with things and not feeling sorry for yourself because little kids have no understanding they just have needs to be met. So Im sure you are used to sucking up the pain so you can move forward amd recover quickly.

Just get moving as soon as you can and you won't look back!

My only problem was washing my hair because its realllllly long, but I just put a chair in the shower.

Totally agree that once you have had kids you just get on with it! The sooner you get moving and try to do stuff the easier it is. My surgeon said other than heavy lifting to try and see if I was comfortable doing things, and worked for me!

Another thing.............do not shower alone.  You may be prone to passing out.  I did day following discharge.  The heat from the water (mind you, it was just warm) and the site of blood from my drain site caused me to pass out and I ended up back in hospital for observation.
