Jadexo
Okay so I've got my BA coming up on the 30th of June and now I am starting to freak out about the consult and post op. I get queasy REALLY easily so I'm scared I will faint or something if he goes into too much detail in the consult or when I see the drains after the operation. Will they still go ahead with it if I faint? I've never had a blood test before so I'm not sure what to expect either. I've had piercings and lip injections though, so I'm not stranger to needles but its the blood that makes me sick and the thought of it coming out of my body if that makes any sense? Please help
Bettybee
That sort of stuff freaks me out a bit too so when I get blood tests I just don't look anywhere near what's going on! I'd suggest looking away and try to think about something else and you'll be fine
Nadine
On the day of my surgery when I was being drawn on by my surgeon, I started to feel close to fainting. My surgeon noticed me turning white and he was able to finish his markings while I lay down. They can also give you something to calm your nerves. pink butterfly
Yes, like Nadine I was given Pethidine to help relax. I was a little anxious but my surgeon normally gives morphine prior to the twilight anaesthetic to help relax the patient and for pain. I can't have morphine so he gave me pethidine. If you are concerned about your anxiety, then this is something you really should go into depth with the surgeon. If they are good and also respectful, they will listen to you and create a plan with you.
ab1990
I'm fine with needles/blood tests etc. When I had surgery they couldn't find a vein and I think they hit a nerve, I ended up getting shooting pains up and down my arms and started crying. As soon as they saw I was starting to freak out they told me they were giving me "oxygen", they actually just put me under using the gas. Jadexo
Hopefully they can give me something for my nerves! I will just let them know in the consultation I'm not nervous about the operation it's just the blood part and having the drains hopefully I will get over it soon. I felt the same way about having surgery until I researched it more and now it doesn't faze me.. Maybe I should do the same with the drains and what not pink butterfly
