Going back to physical job- how long?

Recommended Posts

I had my BA on friday just gone (8.5.15) at TCI Bondi with Dr Van Ngyuen with 560 CC HP under muscle

I have taken until the 22.5.15 off from work and will go back the following day. I have a fairly physical job working in airline food production and have to push big carts, lift large metal trays of food, tubs of plates etc (around 4-6kg at least) . I am worried I havent taken enough time off??? How did everyone go returning to their physical jobs? How much time off did you take? I wish I had a desk job  :(  I also didnt tell my boss bc I thought I would be totally fine to go back but am now worried I'm pushing it

I have little pain now but am still swollen, can't move my arms too much and just down to taking nurofen for swelling.

It's the lifting and the contracting of your chest muscles that may affect your recovery and results. I too have a physical job and was recommended 4-6 weeks off, I took 4 and was fine and that's also when I started lifting my son again and I was fine. I couldn't do it much before then, and plus I didn't want to ruin my recovery

I work in child care - in the babies room with 20 under 2yr old. I had 2 weeks off and this was my first week back (did 3 days). I was lifting the smaller babies the first day but by today I was having to pick up some almost 2yr olds to change nappies etc - so over 15kg (work didn't make me - just how the day panned out!). I didn't carry them around - just a brief lift on and off the table. I really wanted to avoid it, and will where possible for another few weeks, but I have been totally fine! I was finding it more uncomfortable to drive :-) lol.
