Droopy_Lou
What immunisations are absolutely required when heading to Phuket? I'm up to date with the regular ones and had a tetanus injection last year after my boss's Maltese/shitzu attacked my face and I required stitches (no I didn't have the dog reported or put down.... My boss is a lawyer... I was her PA... Awkward much). My boss very apologetic and remorseful however, who's left with the scars?! Sorry... Off track..... What jabs will be absolutely necessary??? Natlovesherboobs
I guess it depends on your risk appetite. I have a friend who goes and gets tattoos over there and has absolutely no vaccinations and I know another friend who went and came back terribly ill... I got my typhoid and Hep A when I went. You should also consider Hep B if you are having surgery..
Madeline
Hmm I didn't get any and had no sickness what so ever! I did get some nasty sunburn on day one though!!

I'm thinking of going without as my usual are up to date... And I plan to be careful with food, water and lots of bugspray! Hubby may need a tetanus though as he can't remember his last. Nothing worse than nasty sunburn... Especially on day one! That would have sucked!
Gabby1
I would have Hep A done. Droopy_Lou
Chesty Larou
If you are worried maybe HepB, but as long as your smart and use bug repellent and drink bottled water you should be fine. I have been to Thailand many times since my surgery and never have any injections, but if you are worried, ask your GP what he recommends. All the best with your surgery

I'm not overly concerned as all my jabs are up to date anyway. I know not to drink the water and avoid having ice in drinks (sealed bottles and cans I think will be the best way to avoid 'bad Thai belly' and avoid market stall foods); and I live in Cairns where bug sprays and repellants are a MUST! So that won't be out of the ordinary for me either. I think you've just got to be, and think, smart. Thanks for the best wishes. 12 weeks can't go quick enough!
