Doubts and panic...

Hi all!

Am new on here, so wanted to create a post as could do with a few people who understand around me (God bless all my small boobed friends...)

Im a 12G (34Gish) and have tentatively booked (well as tentaively as a 10% deposit is!) my reduction surgery for the 20th August. So 3 months and 1 day to go! I live in WA, and my surgeon (Dr Hanikeri *please edit if not ok to put in names! has suggested a D/DD and Im really leaning towards the D!)

And I am terrified! Recently turned 25, which marked a decade of talking about this operation, and tonight I have been hit big time with the 'what the heck am I doing' thoughts. I have been busy saving my butt off for the surgery (thank you medicare and HBF for helping out) and I think that has distracted me well, however I am quite nervous!

I think my main worry is that a D either wont feel small enough (its been so long since ive been that size i have no idea how it will even look) or that I'll still dislike my boobs even after the op!

Any reassuring pats on the head in the ways of a comment would be greatly appreciated, and any advice too! especially RE how much time to take off of work afterwards!

Also, has anyone had it done lately in WA and can tell me how much they spent? my brain is starting to hurt trying to work out how much I could get back with HBF and medicare and how much I have to pay in the first place and then the total after the rebates..... if only getting rid of them were simpler! hah!

Wow what a journey you have been on! I had the opposite of you - I was very flat chested - a 10AA cup and always wanted a decent bust. I saved up the $$ and finally got my BA last Sept. I am now a 10C. I have no regrets at all. It is natural to get scared when we have been wanting something for so long and then when it is nearly upon us, self doubt creeps in. It sounds like you have had an indepth discussion with your surgeon about your needs and wants. How small do you want to go? Would a C cup still flatter your figure or would a D cup just be fine? Hopefully some ladies who have had reductions can give you some insight on here. I wish you the best with everything. x

A family friend had a breast reduction with Dr Hanikeri and she was thrilled with her results. She suffered with back, neck and shoulder pain for many years as well as feeling out of proportion.

I had a slight reduction on my right as different sized implants wasn't going to work. It's normal to have some doubts most of us do.

Best of luck.

I had my reduction 3 weeks ago. I was an F cup not sure what I will end up, maybe big C or small D, too early to tell. My surgeon said my body size will determine the cup size. He wasn't going to give someone a B cup if the were largish as they would look stupid. You say you are a 12 well a C or D would be more than enough. I lost 10 kilos before surgery and am 14/16.

I'm very happy and don't regret anything.

My surgeons fee was $7500 which I am told I will get $1500 back from Medicare and the anesthetist was $2,000.

I also have HBF and I am going to Medicare and HBF tomorrow with all my receipts to see exactly what I am getting back.

My doctor said I was to have 2 weeks off or 3 weeks if I go back to an on your feet job, I ended having 3 weeks off as I had an allergic reaction to the bandages.

I also had second thoughts. I thought what sane person gets their boobs cut off?? That's crazy!

I have been talking about it for 20 years and my only regret is I didn't do it sooner.

I am also in Perth, feel free to ask me any questions ☺️

Good luck x

Hi Natz

I had a reduction on the 23/1, I was scarred at first too, I just recommend u do ALL your research. I was a 16k, after 3 operations I had 2.44kgs in total removed. I'm 30 no kids and single.

I found you have very emotional up n down days post op too...

I have had no short of problems since mine, but that's another story.

Find out which hospital your going into - Charlie's, Fiona, Murdoch, Hollywood, sjog etc

Biggest scare for me was/is loosing a nipple- yes, I only have 1now. Biggest happy moment- taking a breath and feeling it was soo much bigger than any breath I've taken in years.

I wanted to be a D-DD and was happy to even be a c. Kmart- i fit into a DD, but Myers at Caro fitted me and said I'm still an F. That was a major downer for me.

Underwireless bras- best n less have a semi decent range, n Myers have a few that aren't underwire, but are moulded like they have it- something random in the way they r made. Feel pretty good on too.

As you can tell I'm from WA too, and if you need someone to chat to or anything, feel free to chat or PM etc.

Thanks everyone for your replies! Under 3 months to go now, and I think I just have to keep remembering that I'll be ok hahah! I've pinned so much onto liking my appearance a lot more once my boobs are smaller, but I think I need to prepare myself for this not being a magic fix!

I do believe the op will be at SJOG subiaco, as thats where Hanikeri is based, so just knuckling down and keeping on saving!

One thing for after your stitches come out and the scabs fall away- go to BreastCare wa- its on teddington near the casino- I think it's 31..

Pick up the silicone tapes and gel for yourself. They make the scars so much nicer feeling. A friend of mine had implants and was given generic cream. I had extra in the tape/patches I didn't need, so cut them off for her- she thinks they are amazing too. The brand is NewGel.

Thanks Rennich! I will definitely check that out! Looked on the website and will definitely order some....

Have my pre-op tomorrow! 17 days until the operation, and now I'm just in the really impatient stage! After waiting for so long, and finally getting the $8000+ together, I want it done!
