Skye
Here is my detailed experience of my rhinoplasty procedure with dr Piyapas in Thailand.. Sorry it is so long but I hope that after reading this I can at least stop some of you making the mistake I did in getting surgery in Thailand, I think many people are so impressed by the beautiful 5 star hospital and the lovely bedside manner of the surgeons and not to mention the way all the surgery holiday companies glorify them that we would never know we are getting poor quality procedures. I went through restored beauty getaways and chose dr Piyapas as they told me he was a nose "specialist" and one of the best surgeons they made him sound really great.. This cost me $6000 for surgery, hospital and anesthetist but all up about $10000 including flights accomodation and living costs the 2 weeks I was there so really I could of had the surgery in Australia for that price. Straight off the mark things weren't good my consultation with dr Piyapas was quick and un-thorough although he was a lovely person and had a great bedside manner he just didn't really explain much at all I showed him some pictures and explained what I wanted with my nose (made smaller, slight trimming down of the bridge and slight shorten of the tip) as I was happy with the front on look but did not like my side profile he said he was also going to narrow the bridge and I trusted he knew best I had showed him pictures so there could be no misunderstanding. A few days later I went in for my surgery very nervous and as I was laying on the surgery table waiting to be put to sleep dr Piyapas came over and asked me "so how do you want the bridge to look again?" And got a pen holding it up at different angles on his face as I was about to go under!!!! Isn't this what a consultation is for shouldn't he know what he is about to do to my face!! I was now a terrified mess did he even know what I wanted right then and there I should of said stop and not gone through with it looking back I regret it now but I continued trusting he knew what he was doing and was a great surgeon as I had been told but since the operation I have had nothing but problems not only with the way it looks (nothing like the pictures or how I explained) but I can't breathe properly anymore. I waited a year for it to heal completely hoping it would look ok and I might be able to breathe better once the healing process was over but i am now 2 years post op and I hate my nose I have a lump on one side of the bridge from where they fractured it creating a hump and a strange pointy lump on the bridge that is painful to touch there is an indent on one side of my tip and my nostrils are now uneven as he has suchered the tip back on crooked not to mention the shape is ugly and I can't breathe properly and constantly get sinus infections. Getting in contact with him about these problems wasn't easy he did not reply to my emails for months and months until I got very upset and started sending angry emails then he replied basically said yes all the problems are from the surgery I can have it redone at a cheaper cost if I wish. but I do not trust him so I have had a revision consultation with dr Briggs in Perth who basically explained to me the surgery performed in Thailand is about 20 years out dated that's why people have so many problems and to fix it is going to be a bigger operation then the first as my valves are collapsing ( reason I can't breathe properly)because of what he did to the bridge and now needs reconstruction plus fixing the shape. Mine was not a complicated surgery I didn't want much changed but now it's going to cost me so much more then it should have to get it fixed please re-think surgery overseas even though it is cheaper it's not worth the risk and when something goes wrong there's nothing you can do about it. Bananagirl
You poor thing! I had rhino in Thailand an had a really good experience. I researched for a really long time and found that not many surgeons in Thailand specialise in rhinoplasty. If you consider going back maybe use a company like International Rejuvenation and not a company like Destination Beauty who Ive heard just don't help if there are any problems that go wrong. Best of luck babe.

liz_irvine
This is why I am apprehensive about getting a nose job in other countries. I am worried about the follow-up. It's sad to hear about your story. I have considered it before, but after learning that most patients come back for follow-up check-ups or corrections, I think it's good to have someone readily available and more reachable i guess. Kaleidoscope_Eyes
I'm so sorry to hear this. I was thinking about getting rhinoplasty with my BA in December but have decided to leave it for now. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. It seems to be very hit and miss. :/
