I am a Registered Nurse in what can be a very busy rural country hospital...I have taken 2 weeks annual leave and will work my shifts so I have an extra week off after that...do you think 3 weeks will be enough time off after my BA? What did you find the hardest to do once returning to work? Thanks :)

Because it is a rural hospital and the only one for about 100km...we deal with everything and anything that comes through the door! And there are no doctors on site, so us nurses have to deal with whatever situation until the doctor arrives if we have had to call them in!

It's great but can be awful too, when the nearest doctor is 30 mins away and someone comes through the door having a cardiac arrest or full on anaphalaxis reaction or the ambulance brings in farming or car crash victims and we have to hold the fort down till the doctor gets in! Gets pretty scary sometimes! But I think I might try to get closer to a month off, just to be safe! Thanks heaps! X

  • 2 weeks later...

I have booked 2 weeks off only. I work in a public hospital in Anaesthetic and recovery. There are alot of patient transfers but we use pad slides so I could offer to take head or feet?? My worry is the running around I do, I speed walk/run 10kms a shift. Not so much worried about the lifting. Im thinking to double up on bras to support the girls. Anyone had over the muscle and gone back to work in 2 weeks?
