Subtle and discrete
hi ladies,my surgery is booked for end of September (going under the muscle) - I'm just wondering if anyone backed off on chest weights (for pump or otherwise) prior to surgery? My dr said backing off would make it easier for him but didn't specifiy if it would help with my recovery or not. With 3 littlies at home I want to make my recovery as smooth as possible! Meg
HiI would definitely back of a few weeks prior to your surgery. I am 4 weeks post op and have found my recovery to be quite painful. I also did pump and unfortunately wasn't aware that I should have backed off a few weeks before. :((My surgeon commented on how defined my pecs were and quite tight. Good luck. TallGirl
My dr told me to stop all chest work 4 weeks prior. I also love pump so it's going to be hard but want my recovery to be as good as possible! I'm going to continue classes that use core and other muscle groups and stay clear of anything chest. Gabby1
I did pump right up until l left with no issues. That being said l wasn't doing heavy chest weights l was mainly focusing on my core strength. I did sit ups with weights and l found that helped heaps with my recovery because l could sit up by myself without much effort. MezMoz
I was told to back off on upper body for the 2 weeks prior to surgery but I actually started 4 weeks prior as I'm really tight in my pecs and am constantly lifting my 11kg bub. Every night I relax them on a foam roller. I'll know whether this is all worth it after next Wednesday!
Subtle and discrete
Thanks girls, seeing PS a month out from surgery so will get him to clarify but I think I'll just lower my weights and hopefully that will be ok. Mezmoz, foam roller? gabby, great idea to strengthen my core, hadn't thought about that. my surgeon told me to do everything I usually do, I kept training chest right up until my surgery he said I was tight but my pain if fine he said not to change anything I do that way the muscles are the same for when I go back to training, why make them different for the op you may not have the same outcome if that makes sense I'm happy and my recovery has been great I'm PO day 4 with no pain and I had a lift too good luck with your op xxglad recovery is going well. What size did you go? Makes sense what your dr said too. Just another thing to add to my long list of pre-op questions!

MezMoz
Google 'foam roller chest stretch' images and you'll see what I'm talking about. It's super easy and very relaxing.
