I was nervous about that too but there is so much going on and the anaesthetist I had continually talked to me and asked questions and distracted me from everything. I didn't feel the needle go in. The first thing they give you is to relax you and calm you down so any anxiety is very short lived. You'll come out wondering what you were worried about!

I think those feelings are perfectly normal. If you search around on here you will find lots of threads with similar comments especially from mums etc who feel guilty doing something for themselves! And everyone is nervous about having such a big thing like surgery where it's not a necessity. There is nothing wrong with giving yourself something that you want rather than need!!  To get this far to be doing serious research and consults etc it sounds to me like it's not a passing whim! Go for it I say!!
