I'd really appreciate hearing from others with true gummy bear implants. I really don't feel like mine have softened at all! I'm very uncomfortable if anyone brushes past them and can't even hug the kids without discomfort :(

It feels as though they are just grinding into my chest whenever they get bumped, and I can't sleep on my stomach at all...even on my side can be uncomfortable unless I support them.

I have very little breast tissue which doesn't help I know, but at this point I'm heading towards explant. Can anyone offer their own expiences with them? I was at the doctor today and she agreed they look very tight and sore.

Hi BeeMee,

I'm 6mths post Op with Mentor Mod Plus Gel Cohesive Silcone Implants... Im sure the nickname the gel implant gets is "Gummy Bear" My breast are very soft, although one is softer then the other due to the breast being smaller and not as saggy as the other and also having a larger implant in it.

Can I ask a few qustions first...

How long has it been since your Op?

What size (cc), shape and texture did you go with?

Have you been told to massage or not?

Don't stress yourself to much...

Hmmmm ok, so 10 months is a while ago now?

I wonder if they are like Brazillion implants that take longer to soften?

Other than that Im sorry I cant exactly comment as Im not sure. does your Dr think you might have an infection? If so maybe medication might help if there is inflamation? Have you contacted your PS?

The doctor didn't,t feel there was any infection, just that they seemed very tight to her, but she admitted that she's not familiar with the gummy bear style implant. I guess I kept reading they were quite firm so I figured they were normal, but nobody else seems to feel the tightness I have. I contacted the PS office today and the doctor has given me a referral back to him so I'll see what he has to say :)

I am sorry this happen to you! Everything problem has its solution, you just need to find out the cause/reason then your ps will find a way to solve it.

To me, it sounds like your pocket is not big enough to accomodate the implant. When you said, your ps admitted she is not experience with this type of implant, it sounds like either she did not place the implant at the right place or the pocket she made is too small.... I do not think there is anything to do with the implant itself unless they have raptured or is it possible you have Capsular Contracture?

I also think you should go to a doctor that familiar with gummy bear implant and ask for his opinion. Then you can compare btw the suggestion from the two doctors and make a decision.

If you decided to explant, who will bare the cost?

Oh sorry Ace80, I wasn't clear. It was my GP who felt that they were unusually tight but admitted she'd never heard of these implants before. My PS is very skilled at them and it's the one thing I felt/feel very comfortable with - his surgical skill. I'm more concerned that the firmness is a quality of the 410 implants themselves and that I'm just expecting them to be softer than they are. I found a thread last night of a whole pile of people who complained at how hard they were...many of whom switched them out.

Without actually knowing anyone else with them, it's so hard to know what's normal! Slight cc or the pocket too tight have both crossed my mind. I have an appointment for three weeks time so I guess I need to wait and see, but judging from what im reading across the web, these implants are just like this :(

That's really frustrating. Did you not get to feel the implant before it went into you? Like when you tried on sizers Pre op?

I hope for your sake they soften up! Perhaps it's worth asking about massaging? I haven't had my op yet but a friend of mine said the day she started massaging it was like a different set of boobs with how they softened up and actually felt on her chest.

Good luck with your next appointment with your PS! Hopefully this isn't a complication and there's a solution other than explant

Poor you, have to wait for 3 weeks??? With my character, I will not able to wait that long  Maybe you need to wait until you are 12 months po, some women with gummy bear implant have take 12 months or more for their breasts to softern up, it depends on individual. Did you have any pain around your breasts? If not, then I think just like you said, it is the nature of the implant.

The benefits of gummy bear implant is if it rapture, the Silicone will not spread into all your body, and I think, it also minimize the incident of gel bleed as well.

I have the 410's Allergan also. I'm nearly 4 months post op and mine have softened up a fair bit. They are firm but moveable. I have no problem sleeping on my stomach or side. When I was fitted up I chose the smaller size (stupidly because I know the larger size would have been fine on me). I had a small amount of saggy breast tissue so I guess that makes them feel a bit softer anyway but I really noticed a difference in the feel of them after about 6 weeks. I read somewhere that it can take up to 12 months for them to fully settle. I can imagine though that if you didn't have any breast tissue to start with you'd feel the implant and it would feel very strange and unnatural, i.e. like two rubber objects under your skin. If you want to check out my pics to see how mine look just send me a FR.
