Minimel
Hi girls!! So I'm generally pretty active and work out most days, at least 5 days a week and most of those are free weight sessions (dumb-bells) and spinning. My doc has said no weights for 10 weeks. He said normally it would be 6-8 weeks but as I am having anatomicals there is a risk of them moving/turning in the pocket and that any upper body weights might exacerbate that risk. That I am pretty ok with, I'm happy to just do lower body work and cardio. BUT do you girls have any advice in ragards to what kind of cardio is best/safest with anatomicals and also if spinning is safe also?? The last thing I want to do is have something go wrong coz I can't sit on my bum for 10 weeks lol
Platinum
I don't have any helpful advise Minimel, but I would stay away from any sort of exercise that could cause them to turn for as long as possible. I have been slack in the last few years after having kids but I use to work out a lot and want to get back into it. I was put off having anatomicals in case they turned as I am keen to get back into it, especially weight training and was worried.
Bec, sully
Hi minimel, Lower body workout ( leg press, lunges etc) should be fine. Treadmill walk, spin and stairs should also be fine but maybe sit upright on the bike. Possibly walk on a high incline on treadmill to get your hr up there. I think you have to be careful all the time with anatomicals. My gf had them and one of hers turned a year post op, it's just the risk you take with them. I do believe though if the pocket is sewn tight enough then the risk is smaller. My gf wasn't exercising at all and hers still turned so maybe ask the ps the do's and donts with chest / back weights
kanook
Hi minimel. I'm quite active too and I plan on doing exercise bike and treadmill on an incline for my cardio a couple of weeks post op. are you getting brazillians? I'm getting anatomical brazillians and they have a guarantee associated with them saying that they won't turn (I think I read somewhere that they have an extremely low rate of turning) so it might be something to consider if that's an option for you. I'm allowed to do upper body from about 6 to 8 weeks, but I'll just see how I feel!
Minimel
Thanks girls!! I'm not getting brazilians, but they are textured, and I asked Dr T in my consult about the turning risk, that was my main concern with anatomicals, but he said in reality it's only about 3% risk...I think I'm going to just play it extra safe...NO upper body for 10 weeks at least! I'll see how I go after...I guess walking on an incline should still be pretty good. I think I'm going to have to be super strict with my diet!!
