Driving after BA

Recommended Posts

Just wondering when everyone drive for the first time after their BA. I'm 6 days post op and on Tuesday I have a PS appt and also I will have to pick up my 4 year old from kindy.

Do you think it will be ok to drive by then? My Ps said whenever I can hold the wheel with both hands without pain and turn the wheel with ease.

hi ladies

I started driving about 1.5 weeks post op (an automatic). I think if you are off the pain meds and feel like you can do sudden turns if needed you should be ok to drive. Everyone's different though!

I got a lift to my 1 week post op appointment - I was still a bit stiff and sore (and it was about a 25min drive to the appointment).

I drove myself to my 2 weeks post op appointment no problems.

I started driving at 1 week, i didn't feel comfortable moving my arms too much though, so i kept them pretty stiff, and turning the wheel was really awkward, it wasn't painful or anything though, and i kept my driving short, only 10min trips max.

At 2 weeks i did the 3hour drive home and that was fine though!
