Rayaaa88
Hi All.. I am 14 days post-op and have just been told by my surgeon I have a minor wound infection on my incision line. He told me to put Bactrain ointment on it twice a day cover it with gaze and not shower for a week and he said it will heal. I am still freaking out though I guess I just want to hear from any other person who has/had one and if it does indeed go away and it isn't a big deal???! and that everything will be fine :'(
molros
Hey Rayaaa88, try not to worry, I think this is pretty common. I pulled the end of my stitch out and freaked myself out. I was told I could shower though but to dry it thoroughly with a hairdryer (on low heat) and then put more betadine and tape on. I just wonder if you need any gunk that's there (if there is any) to come off when you have a shower and then reapply. But listen to what they tell you, I think mine was about 3 wks after and it was the knot of the stitch that hadn't dissolved. Has the whole incision come open or is it just a bit weepy? Rayaaa88
Hi Molros! I think looking up and reading up about infections has had me a little freaked haha i've already had my stitches out, the only part its happen to is the inner corner near my cleavage it looks slightly open.. yeah before I contact my surgeon I was putting on the cream and putting a bandaid over it (which is what he told me to do until bleeding stopped after first getting my stitches out) the other side stopped and has seemed to heal but this side didn't and then it didnt have anymore blood just this dark yellow crustyish discharge on the bandaid when I took it off :s

BA2012
I had a hip op and had an insicion that didn't heal up 100% when my surgeon took the stitches out. I put a bandaid over it and when I removed it there was pus and gunk everywhere - gross! Went to my GP she cleaned it up and put waterproof dressings on it and it was healed up in about a week. Gave me some antibiotics just in case. I know it's not a BA but seriously it healed up in no time so don't stress!
Daisy_Resha
Rayaaa i had the same thing, it's not an infection, it's called mior would seperation, and it's very very common. Obviously if the wound has come apart and you can see inside yourself it's something to worry about, but if it's small (mine was about 3mm long by 2mm wide) all you need to do is keep it clean, and dry (after your shower) air is the best thing for it. And try to wear breathable cotton clothes/ bra that doesnt rub against the seperation. It does heal up quick dont worry. The yellowy scabby stuff on the gauze is called serous fluid. Relax hun xx
Rayaaa88
@ cbrni thankyou! I am hoping its nothing, I have had no other signs of infection of my actual implant which was my original concern so hopefully in a weeks time it'll be all better and on its way to healing @Daisy_Resha - Thank goodness! haha I think thats exactly what it is, I cant see inside it but its kind of like an indent in my incision which I have had since I had my sutures out right where he told me two popped! thats the only place it has that yellow gunk near it PHEWWWW! I am so relieved right now my goshhh. Haha Thank you so much gosh I love this forum!
Ace80
If you still worry about infection, you can take few cloves of crush Garlic, few times a day...it is the best natural antibiotic that only go after the baddies not the goddies. Take it with juice or drink or yogurt or foods... If you got sickie stomach, reduce the intakes as might be too much. If you take too much, you will have upset stomach. Other than that, Garlic is completely safe.
Daisy_Resha
Just keep it clean and keep watching it. If it gets worse, hot, itchy or starts weeping lots of fluid go see your dr
