Post Op Bra

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I need to get some post op bras and was advised that the ones I used last time are not suitable for Brazilian implants as they were compression/support bras (I did have Mentor). I have pics of them in my album if that helps? I am unsure of which ones to get and the girl I have been liaising with is on a course this week so I am hoping someone can advise. I think I was told to get like a crop top; nothing too tight and it must not have a band underneath....is this normal for Brazilians or am I the exception to the rule because of my CC?

Thanks heaps :)

My doc gave me a post surgery bra and told me to buy a supportive crop for if and when the post-op got too tight from swelling. i got some of the seamless target crops which have a seamfree band underneath. sounds like an ahh-bra type thing might work for you - they are soft but not too supportive - there are packs of 3 at target for $25 i think? i didnt get any but many girls have and just wear more than one at once for the support.

could be because of the CC or could just be your doctors opinion for that type of implant!!

Hi Molros,

I had been meaning to reply to your earlier message. I'm doing really well, and hopefully this will continue! Dr Ces gave me a Marena bra

http://marenagroup.com/garmentstore/product/tabid/199/p-105-molded-cup-bra.aspx

It's not too uncomfy but the material is heavy and I live in FNQ. Basically Dr Ces said to keep them compressed for a month so that they stick to my chest wall. I have been alternating between the Marena bra and a target ahh bra with a kmart sports top on top of that. The target bra doesn't feel supportive enough on its own. The Kmart one was a 2 pack which was super, super stretchy with heaps of elastic. It's also is long from the top of the chest with a wide band underneath which doesn't bother my incisions. I'll try and google it. I think the main thing is thinking about keeping the implant covered where you want it to stick. Like he said, don't let the compression bra sit down low to show cleavage because the implant is there and it needs to be compressed to stick. Also don't pull them in from the side to push them together because you're pulling them away from the chest wall. Does this make sense? I'm going for as much coverage as possible for the first month so that they don't move!

Hi Molros

I am getting Brazilians on Wednesday. I have been told no bra at all....just a singlet or crop with no support....I have bought a few cheap crops from supre and that's it. Good luck :)

Thanks everyone! I know I still have time but don't want to leave it to the last minute and get stuck with nothing!

Lozz, I am very jealous you are an 8FF. You boobs look awesome :) I remember hearing about the Ahh bra now you have said that, I shall have a look online now. I just know he doesn't want anything too supportive...he did say he'd like me bra free for six months (is that the time by which they'd have 'stuck'?) so I need to stock up!

Blair, how is your settling going, has the swelling gone down now? Yours also look awesome :) I hope mine turn out as good as yours and Lozz's! So I don't really want to be pushing them up or down, just making sure they kind of stay where they are, so not squashing them either. I was wondering how my incisions wouldn't get rubbed but that makes sense if they're a bit longer in the body.

Jamily....thank you and how exciting...only two days for you. So Supre, target and Kmart here I come :)

I wonder if I am a bit too relaxed this time; I only remembered last night I need to pack some pj's and the only button up ones I have are thick winter ones!!!

Lozz, sorry, what kind of crops did you get and what size? I found the ahh bra and although I am small I don't know what size to get, maybe L for my boobies? My compression one was a M/L but that was the biggest they had and I almost cried when they out it on me. I guess if they fit me now that would be okay, as long as not too tight? Thank you x

Molros, im actually kinda worried about fluffing and getting bigger at the moment lol im already on the brink of not being able to wear Bnt bras, and have been having a lot of trouble finding wirefree soft cup bras to wear to work!! wearing a 10E at the moment (small band, large cups) and if i get even a little bit bigger i will have to take them back haha but i am so so happy with them that i can deal with the bra issues lol

I was given totally different advice by my doc about my Brazilians! i was told supportive crops for 2 weeks, and wirefree bras from 2 weeks to 'up to 6 months'. at my 1 week PO appointment i was wearing a low cut medium impact sports crop which was fine with the doc and he said my recovery was going so well i was cleared for any wirefree bra i wanted and he said he was sure i would be able to be back in underwire by 3 months (i have heard other girls with my doc who have been like this - basically when you have full sensation back i think?). just goes to show how different all doctors opinions on aftercare is!! i have been told not to massage but other than that i havent been told to not move them slightly!

i think 6 months is about when they say all changes have stopped and the coating has probably disappeared by then? i duno just throwing out ideas lol

yeah there are lots of Ahh bra type things available now that arent anywhere near as expensive as that particular brand but i think it may be a good choice

in the target crops i got i got a size 12 - im usually an 8. but i dont have any of the ahh bra type things. The 12s actuallly got a bit tight on me for a little while and i was thinking geez i could have gone a 14 haha i didnt have much swelling at all but what i did have was all around my ribs and sides - so right where the band was sitting.

i was also a L in my post-op bra i think and had to take it off about day 2 due to the swelling on my ribs. I think if you find some that arent too tight around your ribs and fit your boobs now then you should be fine - there is a lot of give in those ahh bras, unlike the crops i had.

Hehe, I'm a 10E or 10F and I must admit they are not the easiest size to find! Although there always seems to be some that size in the BnT sales...one of my favourite was $70 down to $10! I have yet to see an 8F! I heard about no underwire for six months but that must depend on the individual.

My PS has been using the Brazilians since Jan this year and I asked what, if any problems, he has had. He said the only thing was one girl was wearing under wire's before he told her she could and it ended up pushing one of them up and now she has to have it corrected. I think he said six months for me cos of the CC issue to be safe...he'd probably have me braless for six months if he could but that wouldn't work at work haha! I know once you've had CC you;re at increased risk of getting it again but fingers crossed I'll be okay this time with the Brazilians. I think it takes six months for the coating.

I've emailed them to ask if they have any specific brand they recommend but I'm going to go this weekend and get what you, Blair and Jamily recommend....six months is a pretty long time hey?!

How is your recovery going? I completely agree that you can cope with the bra issue because they're worth it!

i think it feels like a long time but will fly by pretty quick!

My recovery has been going really well - have a pretty comprehensive story in my thread lol but had a much better than average recovery (11/10 from the doc lol) back to work tomorrow and think i should be fine - just probably a little tired!
