BA- From beginning to End..

Recommended Posts

I found it hard to find informations for girls who are my age (and most of my friends who have had the surgery have gone over seas).

So, here it is....

I'm a 20 years old Perth Girl. I was considering having the surgery for years, but my ex was totally against it, so I pushed it aside. Since him and I are no longer together, and I since discovered a new found freedom and now I'm going ahead with it.

I had my initial consultation with Dr. Goldman. There was something about him that didn't make me feel 100% confident in him. I am an Enrolled Nurse, so I am aware of the difference between a Cosmetic and Plastic surgeon. He didn't give me options, but instead instructed me I had no option but to go round/overs. As I felt uncomfortable with this, I decided to go get a second opinion and considered going overseas.

During my studies, I had a practical placement at SJOG where I was placed in the day procedure unit. This is where I met lots of girlies who were coming in and out of surgery with their new additions. I also saw a lot of women who needed to have their boobs redone after going overseas (this completely ruled out that option for me).

I decided that it was time to get a second opinion and booked my first consult with Dr. Hanikeri at SJOG. He has been wonderful. So is his secretary, Sue. Always willing to answer my questions and doesn't make me feel like an idiot when I ask him the same questions twice. I've changed my mind about how big I'd like to go 3 times now, and he hasn't rolled his eyes at my indecisiveness once. I felt completely comfortable around him, and he made sure that I also had a say in how my final look will be.

Dr. Hanikeri and I decided on, Tear Drop 380cc, above the muscle. My surgery is the 31st of Jan and I haven't been more excited for anything in my life!!

I'll let you know how it goes and feel free to ask any questions.

For me it was an easy decision because I'm already a B-C cup and my breasts are still quite perky and full, so the implant will be covered. Plus I'm not exactly a tiny girl so Dr. Hanikeri recommended to go over. If I really wanted to, I could go under. But that would increase the healing time and such, which in my case would be unnecessary.

Hey Olive Dr. Hanikeri is with the WA plastic Surgery Centre (http://www.plasticsurgerycentre.com.au/index.html). Before seeing him I hadn't heard any reviews, but I had seen a bit of his work whilst on my placement and all his patients were happy which is the main thing. I'd definitely recommend seeing him for a consult. I was told to see at least two surgeons before making a decision, which was probably the best piece of advice I received.

I haven't been more excited for anything, ever. The only worry I have is about size (worried I might not be big enough)

Have you seen any doctors yet? xx

Hi Jordan,

Congratulations on booking your surgery - its always so exciting. And thanks for sharing you experience leading up to that. I'm 23 and in Melbourne - having my BA done on Wednesday arghhhh so exciting. We have a "January Girls" thread if you would like to join and get the support from the lovely ladies all going through it at the same time. Its under the "Overseas Forum" but most of are having it done here in Oz.

Only 10 more days for you!

Hey! I'm definitely going to see a few surgeons until I find the right one for me... I already have quite a list. I probably wont see all of the ones I have in mind but at least I have a bit of choice, originally I thought there were hardly any good plastic surgeons over here!

-Mr Paul Quinn

-Mr Robert Allbrook

-Dr Peter Randle

-Dr Mark Lee

and probably Dr Hanikeri once I see your results

I had a chat with Mr Quinn's nurse and she made me feel really confident, so probably book in there first. Just waiting to start the semester of uni so I know what times I have available for consults.... so excited!

Sorry for my slack reply girls, I've been in the process of moving so I've been a bit scattered.

Anyways, today is the day.

Lucky for me, I was first on the list at 8am. I was admitted by 7am, in theatre by 8, out by 1030 and home by 1230. It all happened so fast I didn't have time to take it all in!

Before surgery, Dr. Hanikeri came in and made sure I was fine and didn't have anymore questions. He also drew all my lines on my boobs and such. I met my anaesthetist also, he was a lovely man, who also answered all my questions and was extremely patient.

After surgery, I woke up with my sexy post op garment. I felt groggy and extremely sleepy (I spent most of my time in recovery apologising to the nurses for "napping for so long"). Once I got home I went straight to bed. I've had a nap and still feel a bit groggy, but that's expected.

As far as pain goes, it's non existent. I have a bit of discomfort and feel a bit 'tight' around my breasts, but that's it. I find when I need to move around in bed, or put pressure on my arms, I get a tiny bit of pain. So far I've been able to control it with regular Panadol and not needed to touch the Oxycodone that Jeramy (my anaesthetist) prescribed me. I've also been given a course of antibiotics and some anti-inflammatories.

So far, I have no regrets and feel amazing. I'm still glad I chose to have the surgery done with Dr. Hanikeri

That's awesome to hear, Olive. I've heard great things about Mark Lee too and lots of girls have mentioned him on here.

I was hoping to go a DD. I had 380cc put in and today Dr. Hanikeri said I would be between a D-DD, which I would be more than happy with. Rice sizers are probably the best idea. I changed my mind about sizes too many times, so at least you'll have a good idea with them.

At the moment, I'm still feeling uncomfortable. More than yesterday. I'm finding it harder to get in an out of bed, so I've relocated to the couch, where I'll more than likely sleep all day My breasts feel as though they've softened on top already. The only pain I'm experiencing is from the surgical site, but I'm still surviving on Panadol only

Hi jodant88, how did everything go, are you happy with the surgeon and the size you picked in the end?? I'm currently in the process of picking a couple of surgeons to get a consult with. It's so overwhelming - so many decisions! But super excited to be finally on my journey to the new me, especially after not really having any boobs and then having 2 babies

Love to hear your progress, i'll send a FR
