I have made a tentative booking for BA on 19th Sept.

I am travelling to Bali on 13th Oct (only 3 weeks after BA) and have few concerns about swimming and infection. My surgeon said it shouldn't be a problem as any infections would occur within the first week and would be treated with antibiotics. What would your advice be? I am taking too much of a risk?

    Hi there,
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! What a way to celebrate by showing off your new look in your beach holiday at Bali!
Assuming everything goes to plan with optimal surgery and recovery, there is no reason why you can't have a good time 3-4 weeks post op breast augmentation. I generally don't advise my patients to go back swimming until at least 4-6 weeks post op after my clearance that all surgical wounds & associated healing are satisfactory. It can also be influenced by the specific surgical technique by your surgeon especially with a sub muscular or dual plane approach, you'll need to be more cautious with the extent of upper limb exercise as instructed by your surgeon. Last but not the least, of course you'll need to make sure the water are clean and uncontaminated to keep the infection risk low.
    Hope that helps!

    Hi LisiR,
It should be fine at that stage as the wounds are completely healed by 2 weeks usually. I'd make sure you see your treating doctor just before you leave so they can make the call before you go. If there is any doubt use some waterproof dressings and try to keep the swims to short dips instead and avoid long hot baths.
    Hope this helps,
