Weight loss prior to breast reduction?

I really want to have a breast reduction in the next 6-12 months but I'm currently around 25kg overweight.  My BMI's 33.  Does anyone know if I'll be able to get it done at this weight, or do I need to lose weight first?  I am trying to lose weight but I'm not getting anywhere fast!

Thanks

HI Mel, I think you'll find that you can get the op as is, but your surgeon will recommend you try to lose weight. As hard as it is to exercise with huge boobies, you just have to do it! Walking works wonders, even 1/2 hour a day will help. The hard part is cutting down on the munchies... says I as I munch on licorice.

Oh, my current exercise method (can't walk much due to injury) is riding the exercise bike as i watch TV or read a book. With a distraction it's easier to just keep riding, and riding, and riding.

Check out the book "When Less is More" by Dr. Snodgrass.  She goes through all the research showing why losing weight prior to a breast reduction surgery is usually NOT necessary.  The book is fantastic - it's really cheap on amazon.com as an ebook.  Personally, I have lost 18 kilos and my cup size has only dropped from a GG to a G.  I still have another 20 kilos to go, but I'm not waiting any longer.
