What's going on over at TCI?

Recommended Posts

Email I just received:

Dear

I wanted to advise you of some  exciting developments at The Cosmetic Institute and how they affect your upcoming surgery, booked to take place at our Bondi Clinic on 16/10/2015.

As you may know, we are now the largest cosmetic surgery provider in Australia and operate on thousands of happy patients each year. TCI has grown from strength to strength since we opened our doors in 2012.  But while we knew that TCI would be a roaring success, we could never have anticipated the pace of growth that we’ve experienced in such a short period of time.
The demand for the quality, affordable cosmetic surgery service that we provide right here in Australia is higher than ever and as a result, we have quickly outgrown our premises at both Bondi and Parramatta.

As such, we have recently announced that we are expanding into new operating facilities here in Sydney.  After almost a year of planning and negotiation, we have finally signed on to take over new, licensed premises within Concord Private Hospital that afford us significantly more space than we currently have at either of our existing clinics.
This is something that we have had in the pipelines for some time now, and although the transfer of our Bondi theatres was planned to take place a little later this year, with the current climate, we have made the decision to bring forward the transition and continue providing the highest level of patient care and customer service from our licensed premises at Concord Private Hospital.

From Monday 14th September, procedures scheduled for Bondi will take place at our new operating premises at Concord Private Hospital, 55 Burwood Road, Concord.

We have attached some additional information on our Concord facility along with the ‘Concord admission form’.
We would appreciate it if you could please email your completed 'Concord Admission Form' back to us at your earliest convenience. Please also bring the completed copy with you on the day of your procedure.

From a patient perspective however, little else will change.

·      Your surgery will still be performed by your chosen surgeon.

·      Our highly experienced and credentialed team of nurses and specialist anaesthetists will be transferring from our Bondi clinic to the new Concord premises, so you’ll be receiving the same level of care that TCI is famous for.

·      Your pre and post-operative appointments will still take place at our Bondi clinic, which will remain our premises for all patient consultations, pre and post-surgery.

·      You can remain assured that our new operating facilities are also Internationally Accredited with ISO 9001 and boast all the same state of the art equipment and facilities that we have at Bondi.

·      You will continue to deal with the same team of cosmetic consultants you’ve been dealing with all along, to answer any questions and to continue to guide you through your patient journey.

Our new facilities are also licensed to deliver General Anaesthetic, which is part of our plan to offer a wider scope of procedures in the not too distant future. Additionally, there are plans to offer overnight stays which will make the TCI experience even more convenient for those not based in Sydney.

Our Parramatta procedures have already transferred to our new Concord premises and the additional capacity we now have at Concord will aim to reduce the wait times across both clinics.

If you have any questions about these changes, please feel free to contact our Bondi team at 1300 741 852 and bondi@thecosmeticinstitute.com.au.  Otherwise, your cosmetic consultant will be in touch shortly to discuss.

Thank you for being part of our exciting journey.  Our patients are at the core of everything we do and we remain focused, as always, on providing you with the very best care, support and clinical outcomes, at an affordable price.

Best regards,

David Segal

TCI announced a week or so ago that they just purchased a hospital in Sydney and were going to start operating out of there. It all happened around the same time as the incident last week so probably didn't get much attention paid to it.
Some people reckon that they are doing it as a response to the things that have happened, I don't know how possible it is to buy a hospital that quick but you know, money talks.

I am fairly certain they have taken over the entire hospital - its what they said on their Facebook page
Interesting to see that they are going to offer overnight stays for those who wish. I guess that will be a good thing for those who are travelling on their own or want that peace of mind of being looked after by nurses but heaps of plastic surgeons do breast aug as a day surgery. I wonder if they are planning on doing other procedures now.

LOL Yes, I do read the news each and everyday, and know what has been going on. It had been stated that TCI had outgrown their Parramatta facility, not Bondi. So THIS is news to me. Hence the title.

I'm letting other women know if they are booked in at the Bondi clinic that their surgeries too will be moved.

..despite their Bondi clinic being fairly newly built..

I would say they have moved everyone as a response to what has happened.
I wouldnt worry, i think it is a good thing, they are moving people into the hospital, it would at least give you more peace of mind knowing your in the hospital if anything did go wrong.

absolutely, I wouldnt like that either. Especially if you are travelling from out of town, i would imagine most people would have organised accommodation etc to be close to bondi. I hope they are giving you some compensation for the added costs you are likely to incur

They have not purchased a whole hospital. It has been in place for several months, but yes with the current climate they are moving all surgeries there. It is at Concord Private hospital and have and will continue to rent the theaters. All the pre and post-op appointments will be at the regular clinics and they are offering the ladies from Bondi who have already booked accommodation travel options. The way they have handle this has been extremely professional ☺️

I wasn't suggesting otherwise. I'm not sure whether or not they purchased the hospital but the way they announced it sounded like it was 'their' new facility. TBH buying the place wouldn't surprise me given that TCI say they have performed over 14,000 breast augs, it would make sense for them to just purchase the entire place. Semantics really. I didnt mean to offend.

I am glad that they are giving their current patients transport options and so they should. I would be less then impressed having my surgery moved to a significantly different location then where I had booked. I guess giving them travel options is doing more then what a particular melb cosmetic surgeon did when he moved his patients to a clinic one hour a way the day before their surgery

Hi !

I also received the email as I'm booked in for Bondi on the 30th of October but wasn't offered anything in regards to travel - I have booked accommodation in Bondi Junction so I'd like to know what's available to help out :) do you know what has been offered and is this only if we ask?

I'd give the girls a call and ask :) Once you have sent the admission form back I think they are organizing transport vouchers or something along those lines. We didn't need them luckily, but other girls who are staying in Bondi have been given money back for transport.

And The Fox I understand that you weren't trying to offend, however with recent outlandish comments made by certain forum members (how "dumb" and uneducated members have become for example) it becomes hard not to get defensive. There have been many "claims" made on this site which are completely false and are rich coming from so called BA experts who have zero respect for post-op instructions. Possibly leading to why they have needed numerous revisions after surgery done by PS, but that is none of my business now is it :);)
