I was thinking about this too Millchops! Luckily I won't have to go anywhere much for a couple of weeks after, but untill then I plan to wear some excercise pants with a zip up hoodie jacket. Hopefully that will do. Do you have any button up blouses? I think that probably only zip up or button up are useful for a while unless you have someone else to dress you!

When i was discharged home the day after my op, I got myself dressed in a hoodie that I pulled over my own head without assistance... I was pretty lucky, as long as I did everything carefully I had full use of my arms (not for anything heavy, but I had full range of movement).

I reckon take your stretchiest stuff... Or a zip front jacket. And singlets u can step into and pull up.

I pretty much lived in PJ's and singlets (and hoodies if it was cold) for the first 2 weeks.

I sort of think I will be fine putting clothes on over my head by myself too missSJ. I am pretty tolerant of pain so it should be fine. I will be taking a zip up hoodie with me to surgey though just in case. And I will also pretty much live in PJ's for a while so that will be good! I have lots of TV shows and books on my kindle lined up ready to go - can't wait to watch all the seasons of Dexter tucked away in bed in my PJ's! ;)

Take button up at the front shirts, or tops that pull up. You will thank me for the advice lol. I was out for a full day shopping on my second day but getting dressed ( even pulling up a skirt) hurt. I have a huge pain threshold and taking things that button up the front was a god send!

I am thinking like that too Bec, sully! I have a high pain threshold but the easier the better really! PJ's and zip up hoodies is it for me for a few weeks! Lucky I will have help with my kids too because lifting either one of them will be out of the question, I know that already, they are way too heavy for me to even consider carrying!

It does millchops! I also found reach for the toilet paper quite uncomfy too lol. Lots of loose clothing and don't over do it. It takes time and allow yourself to recover :) What size did you get?

I hadn't thought about toilet paper! Oh oh looks like I will be in a bit of pain for that! I have to be carefull with the kids as they like to flush every last piece if they see it, thanks for reminding me about it!

Hi, I guess I was lucky as I also had pretty much full arm movement post op. i took button up top to hospital with me, but didnt find dressing myself or lifting my arms a problem. just wondering, is it because the insicion site is under the arm pit? because mine is infra mammary crease, does anyone know if that makes the difference. X

i think i might invest in some wrap dresses, That should be stylish and easy to get on :)

Be mindful that the post op bra/bandage is pretty high up and will def show on a wrap dress, so you will have to put a highish vest top over top - sorry but stylish will be hard for first 3 days ;) x

Girls, I took a couple of nice button up shirts/pj,s its not so much pain putting things over your head you will be dealing with, its complete weakness of your pec muscles that you need to operate your arms above your head, for example day 1/2 I struggled with doors, carrying handbag, opening bottles etc, taking clothes off/on. By day 3/4 as in my case got better enough to achieve all these things. and as I said to Sookidee, that post op bra and velcro bandage they put on top comes up pretty high just under collar bone, (a dead giveaway you just had your boobs done) I also took a lovely floaty scarf with me.

And i need ice packs, pillows etc etc .... I just want to spend some money after saving it all for so long haha

Quite right too! I bought a lovely new memory foam pillow (spotlight) , A recliner chair - ok extravagant, but whats another few hundred bucks when you've just spent 10k on new boobs lol lol! but I slept and recovered in it for 4 days and now have to fight to get everyone off it!

Ice pacs (coles/woolworths sandwich box isle) they are pink in packs of 3 and little for fitting in bra till i got home to the peas!

I read about those ice packs in another thread too and put them straight on my list of things to buy! I wish I could get a recliner, it would help for recovery but I don't think we can fit one in :(
