Confused about lipo or tt

Recommended Posts

Hi all, addicted to reading everyone's experiences & hoping for some advice for myself. I've recently lost 24kg & desperately want to rid myself of my hanging tummy apron. I've had 2 c- sect's & get a lot of lower back pain from being so out of wack. Had a great consult with lipo specialist who said he could remove all the excess fat but now I'm wondering if it's worth the $$$ when I'll have to fix the skin later anyway. Problem is that I'm not covered on my private health insurance for another 10 months. Am I just being impatient & should I wait & go the whole hog together?

Hi there Nicola

to me it sounds like it would be more sensible to go for the TT and if lipo is needed at the time anywhere nearby they could do it at the same time. ....by the way congrates on all the weightloss....amazing!! I also had 2 c-sections, and flabby belly....not a huge apron but really ugly.

Can't find a link to where I told my whole story, but this thread says a bit

http://www.plasticsurgeryforum.com.au/forums/showthread.php?1766-TT-photos-added

I would go see your GP find out if you have muscle separation at the front (if you do you'll need a full TT with muscle repair.....which will give you a flat tummy).....and then get a referal to PS to see what they think.....they'll have a better idea of what you will require. I absolutely love my new flat tummy, and don't care about a slightly larger scar....had one (pretty ragity too) already from the c-sections! Shop around, find a surgeon you are confident with and by the time you're booked in your Private Health will be ready to go.....it will be worth the slightly longer wait.

Also my TT has helped my back around 60% I'd say....but it doesn't help everyone...just depends on your prob. I also started pilates about 6 months after the op and my back was great!! Just had a BA now so can't do any proper piliates for a while, but will get back to it.

Will send you a FR to check out my TT pics.....it was the best thing I ever did :)

Hi Nicola, I had my Tummy Tuck 5 days ago. My story is similar to cha cha, had 3 babies, the last 2 being oversized. You would be suprised at how how having poor tummy muscles can do to your back. I still looked 5 months pregnant almost 4 years after my last 10 pounder. I have a small waist and over the years it just seemed to get gradually worse.

Anyway In my opinion would not bother with lipo on its own. Suggest you go see a couple of plastic surgeons, they will tell you whether you need lipo combined with a T.T.

Cheers & all the best with your research. If u take the time to look through the TT threads there is a lot of helpful info.

I had recently underwent vaser liposuction with Dr Tavakoli in Sydney. He is amazing. I know he does both liposuction an tummy tucks. I have posted photos in my thread if you wish to see results although it does sound like tummy tuck may well be the way to go for you?
