Looking for a Plastic Surgeon who is experienced in Facelift surgery.

Hi, I'm a 57 year old female who looks in the mirror and sees an old lady looking back at me. The skin on my face, jawline and neck is saggy and wrinkled, mainly due to many years of unprotected sun exposure when I was younger. I'm now wanting to make the outside look how the inside feels. Specifically, I'm hoping to find a Plastic Surgeon who has extensive experience with face and neck lifts and is extremely competent in this area. Having had a number of BA surgeries and upper eyelid bletharoplasty in the past I understand it's not an exact science and even the best laid plans can go slightly awry. Having said that I'm also acutely aware that this is my face and the results are not something that can be hidden under clothes. Hence my search for a master in this particular field. I've searched this site and curiously there is very little information on these procedures as compared to breast surgery, although I can understand some would be reluctant to share photos of their face. Hoping you can help me or at least point me in the right direction of a highly recommended surgeon in this area. I live in northern NSW /Qld border area but am happy to travel for the right surgeon. Many thanks for taking the time to read this.

Thanks for sharing your story.57 is generally the age where patients start contemplating a facelift.Your first port of call should be the original surgeon that did your breast augmentation and blepharoplasty. Unless he/she wasn't a plastic surgeons, then they wouldn't have the skills to perform a facelift and by the sounds of things you are looking for another surgeon.
Most plastic surgeons on this forum are more than capable facial plastic surgeons but if you are after the most experienced facelift surgeons in Australia, then Melbourne has Dr Bryan Mendelson and in Sydney Dr Warwick Nettle.
I hope this helps and good luck.

    Hi Cathy.
Many thanks for posting your question.
Not "seeing the age you feel" when you look at yourself in the mirror is commonly expressed by patients seeking a face and neck lift. You are correct in saying that not all surgeons perform face and neck lifts on a regular basis. A properly performed face and neck lift takes time and, like all surgeries, can be associated with significant possible complications.
Lower facial rejuvenation (face and neck lift) is a refined art that has improved greatly in the past decade due to increased studies into the anatomical changes to the face that occur during ageing. It takes more than just pulling and taking off excess skin to get a good long term result. The internal layers of the face (underneath the skin) must also be manipulated/tightened, and there are several ways of doing this, depending on the patient's anatomy and the surgeon's personal experience and preference. As such, the longevity of the lift is dependent more so on the tightening the "internal" aspects of the face and not so much on the skin, as the skin will always have a tendency to stretch. Sometimes, adjunctive procedures such as fat injection can be performed simultaneously in order to get an overall better result.
Your next step would be a thorough consultation with a plastic surgeon experienced in facial rejuvenation, to assess your face and to discuss your concerns and outcome expectations. They should also be able to demonstrate through before and after photos (of patients similar to yourself) what may be achievable in you.
    All the very best.
    Warm regards,

    Hi Cathy
Most plastic surgeons in this forum would be capable of performing your facelift. If you have been happy with the work that your prior surgeon has done, then they would be a reasonable starting point if they are a Specialist Plastic Surgeon. If your other surgery was performed by a non specialist cosmetic surgeon, then it is unlikely that they will have the skills to perform a facelift competently.
You are correct that facelift galleries are much harder to amass - many patients that are happy with their results do not want their photos shared, especially publicly. Most surgeons will have a greater number of before and after photos that they can share within the confines of their rooms, as compared to photos that they can share on their website & forums.
    Good luck
