Can you request an overnight hospital stay after breast augmentation?

I'm looking into getting breast implants (straight forward case) and have noticed that some surgeons make you stay overnight whereas others send you home. I would prefer to stay overnight in hospital after surgery for peace of mind. If i choose a surgeon that doesn't require me to stay overnight, can i request it anyway? (and pay more obviously)

    Hi Elisabethd88.
Thank you for posting your question. The simple answer is yes, you can always request to stay overnight at a private hospital after breast augmentation. The reason why many plastic surgeon choose to perform breast augmentation as day cases at accredited day surgery facilities is to help patients reduce facility costs. As most plastic surgeons will be accredited at, and be operating out of private hospitals, they can choose to perform breast augmentation as an overnight stay if that is what the patient prefers.
    All the very best.

    HI Elizabeth
Yes it is possible. Most surgeons perform their breast augmentation surgery at smaller day surgery hospitals as it costs the patient less. If you have your surgery in a bigger hospital, then an overnight stay will be possible but will cost you a bit more. If you are worried about access to your surgeon or staff in that first night, it can be cheaper to stay in the closest 5 star hotel!! Most surgeons teams are able to organise any one of those options for you.
Good luck with your planned procedure

Thanks for the questionOf course you can stay the night, but not necessary as breast augmentation is generally a day surgical procedure. If you are an out of town patient, most surgeons have a reciprocal arrangement with a local hotel and you can stay there. Much cheaper, better facilities and for your peace and mind you are next to the hospital should you need any care.At East Sydney Private Hospital we send our patients to The Boulevarde hotel, off the top of my head I think it is around $180/n. (better than $1000 at the hospital)
I hope this helps and good luck.

You can definitely request an overnight stay in hospital but expect to pay an additional $300 or so.  Many plastic surgeons operate in accredited day surgery hospitals to reduce costs for patients.  You can elect to have your surgery performed in a hospital that offers overnight stays.
