4 things to consider before cosmetic surgery

So you have decided on having some work done? Well here are our top 4 considerations before having surgery!

  1. Preparation:
Do your research and make sure you know exactly what you are getting yourself into. Surgery is no joke and you really should not make the decision flippantly. Remember, you are permanently altering your body.
Make yourself aware of the risks and be prepared for your recovery.
  2. Time and means for recuperation:
Deciding that you want surgery is one thing, but timing is everything.
Plan your surgery for a period where you are able to take adequate time off work and other duties for your recovery. Although we live in a culture of instant gratification, delaying your surgery may be a necessary trade off if it means not compromising your results.
  3. Financially can you afford the surgery:
Whatever your reasons are for wanting surgery, you need to make sure it is something that is within your financial means at the moment. Revision surgery is a real possibility. Breast augmentation surgery is not a lifetime procedure and the chances of you needing revision surgery at some point is extremely high.
  4. Realistic expectations:
How realistic are your expectations? Whilst many may percieve surgeons as miracle workers, the reality is they can only work with what they have.
A great way to prepare yourself is to seek out like for like.
Before and after images that best represent your starting point will help you get a better understanding of your likely results.
Make sure that you and your surgeon are on the same page when it comes to the outcome you want to achieve and whether or not that is going to be realistic for you. A lot of disapointment post surgery can be avoided with adequate preparation and understanding.
