Background
Mr Dean Trotter is a Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at ARC Plastic Surgery. Dean completed his MBBS at the University of Melbourne in 1999. After training at major plastic surgery centres in Melbourne including The Alfred Hospital, The Royal Children's Hospital, and St. Vincent's Hospital, Dean was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2009.
Dean is an Executive Member of the Epworth Hospital Head & Neck Clinical Institute & Head of the Breast Plastics Unit at The Women's Hospital in Melbourne.
In 2010, Dean completed a 12 month microsurgical fellowship at St Andrews Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns, Chelmsford, UK. During this fellowship, Dean focused on microsurgery, particularly breast reconstruction, working with world renowned expert Mr Venkat Ramakrishnan. While in the UK, Dean also received fellowship training in aesthetic plastic surgery, skin cancer surgery and cosmetic breast surgery including congenital breast asymmetry reconstruction. He completed additional fellowship training in Buenos Aires, focusing on aesthetic plastic surgery and the use of cosmetic fat grafting.
Dean has undergone further training in several areas including hand trauma, skin cancer surgery, burn surgery, lower limb and facial trauma. He has also undertaken research in several areas including microsurgical breast reconstruction, flap reconstruction, skin grafting, hand injuries, and outcomes following surgery. He has presented his research at national and international conferences and has authored publications in key medical journals
As a surgeon, Dean's primary interests are in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, including microsurgery, breast reconstruction, cosmetic breast surgery, hand surgery, skin cancer surgery and trauma.
