LizD
Where can I buy silicone sheeting from? Or what scar creams can you recommend? I had a surgery on my hand yesterday even though I still have a cast & bandages on I'm expecting a big incision from the knuckle down to about the wrist area where I've had to have the thumb repositioned & the I've had wires put in. So I'm expecting a bit of a scar eventually, although I'll have to have the wires taken out in 6 weeks just don't wantto have a great big scar up my hand. Febtime
You should be able to buy silicon strips from the pharmacy, although they aren't cheap. I've started using it on my incision on my knee which is about 8 cm long so hopefully it prevents it from raising. I'm also using vitamin e oil, was recommended to use bio oil. Kritta
I bought my silitape from my surgeon for $30. I think in pharmacies it costs a lot more. LizD
Cupcake85
Silicone scar sheets work really well. I bought mine from the chemist. eBay has them cheaper though. I used them and when I wasn't wearing them I also used scar cream. LizD
Amy E
My thought on the sheeting is I'm undecided I think it helped the scar heel quicker but I did one scar on its own for a bit to see and honestly they both ended up the same For me both mine feel flat and I can't feel the scar at all but they both look the same to LizD and Cupcake85
LizD
Thank you ladies for your suggestions, I really appreciate it!!! I had my plaster off yesterday & stitches removed & it turns out that it's not as bad as I expected - my scar is only around a 5 cent piece size, so I think I can live with that scar (unless when the wires are removed it becomes bigger cause they had to tuck them down the wrist area).
