I've read buffet food is a no, street food is a no, even resturaunts are iffy.

I'm sick to death of packet nuts and McDonald's i am so paranoid of getting sick it's horrible

I'm scared after surgery when I have to order over the phone and not see food cooked :(

The streets here absolutely reek and the street food smells make me nauseas lol never again would I come here it makes me appreciate australia soooo much like wow. The hospital was professional however it's the only professional looking thing I've found so far, I've been hassled by tuk tuk drivers and ripped off by taxi drivers something fierce. Babgkok is not my friend.

embrace the culture and go with it....its not aistralia so you cant compare it. ...the food is awesome...try a different resturant each night...i eat off street cart, pop up resturants, cafes...anywhere...its part of the adventure. i too have never been sick. ...just make sure you drink bottled water.

its a barter country...so set your price before you hop in a tuk tuk. .....think its too dear walj 100 meters and try with another driver...bartering is fun :-)

work out a way to make yourslf enjoy the adventure...or you will miss out on soo much.

i love thailand and visit often. ...like many others. ...dont be scared the people are lovely, they are just trying to make a living, not hassle you on the streets...they dont have centrelink to fall back on...they have to work to live.

I was the same refused to eat anything, the only food that l trusted was ridiculously over priced so it really defeated my purpose of going there. I felt sick on the plane home and they gave me a coffee mug of water I asked if it was safe for me to drink/ if it come from a bottle but they didn't understand it was so incredibly hard

I was petrified of getting sick because every time I'd been to Thailand in the past, I got food poisoning.

I was in Bangkok for my surgery 3 weeks ago and this is what I stuck to and successfully escaped without falling ill:

- Wholegrain rice from 711 (they warm it up in a microwave for you)

- Bananas

- Street vendor watermelon and corn

- Room service omlettes and cheese pizza

- Yakult

It wasn't the most balanced diet but I had plenty of energy at least!

Oh dear. Please eat everything to make sure you'll heal The thing you need to remember is if the Thai can eat and survive, you can. Just eat it when it's hot. Heat kills bacteria. Or you can eat somewhere in a restaurant. There are hundred restaurant out there. Pick one. And yummy xxxx

When i went to phuket for my ba a couple of weeks ago (fistlst time.to thailand)my only stipulation was i drank the bottled water and food was hot. I LOVED the street food and tried not to eat western food although i felt like a pizza one night so got it from room service!

Im sorry youre having such a hard time over there ? i really loved the thai people (i was however apalled at some tourists antics I witnessed on several.occasions) hopefully surgery goes well and you recover happilyxx dont take bartering personally, they're just trying to get by... have some fun with it ... ; )
