margaretriver 20
Hi brains trust! Had my op today- had over the muscle. Feeling sore but good arm movement. Been in bed on 2 pillows today but recalled nurse saying I should rest in an arm chair. I think this was because at the time I felt so dizzy from moving from bed to chair but wondering if it might now mean for implant placement? I’ve checked post op instructions and there’s nothing there about sleeping. Maybe I’m over thinking it?? thanks for any tips! sabP
Kit 31
Hi @margaretriver - that is great you are feeling so well already! I had under muscle implants 3 weeks ago and my post surgery instructions were to sleep on my back in an upright/inclined position for a few weeks.
margaretriver 20
So 2 pillows not enough? Wonder if under muscle different??
Kit 31
I struggled with my recovery and slept on 3 pillow and had a neck pillow too! I would assume it’s for comfort, to stop swelling and make sure implants settle into their pockets. Sorry but I am not sure what the post op instructions would be for overs and hopefully someone else may be able to assist you or check with your surgeon tomorrow margaretriver

Most of us (over or under) sleep in bed, but propped upright, it helps them settle and eases morning boob when you wake up. I hated it and had to sleep like that for a couple of weeks, it was such a relief when I could roll onto my side again! margaretriver
margaretriver 20
Thanks @sabP ? turns out I have had unders which actually makes me feel better with the pain! I have been really struggling with the recovery and trying to think that it’s all worth it ? sabP
sabP 750
Hey @margaretriver I do know how you feel, it can be tough in the early part of recovery, but it will get better - it just seems like it won't Take it day by day and you will notice overall improvement xo margaretriver

Kit 31
Hi @margaretriver, just wondering how you went with your post op instructions and how your recovery is going now? I’m into week 4 now and feeling not too bad. Just the odd twinge of pain here and there and still tired all the time...I’m supposed to be officially recovered by 6 weeks but can’t see that happening at this stage as my chest/pec muscles are still very tight. So I am just doing some gentle stretches to help them loosen up and get my posture back to where is was pre op! Also just out of interest what other surgeons did you consult with and who did you end up choosing?
margaretriver 20
@Kit thanks for checking in. I’m day 6 Po and have been tired and painful still too! Turns out dr cooter went under muscle in the end. I also saw dr Kollias. I feel like they are huge ? but hubby says you can’t tell in clothes and thinks they look great. They are sore and swollen!! I’m also still sick at times from not eating normally and zero exercise ? hoping I feel better soon! sabP and Kit

Just take it day by day... they may feel huge, but you would still have post-op swelling. Often after the first week you start to feel like things are improving. Be gentle with yourself and give it time xo margaretriver
margaretriver 20
Thanks @sabP ? the encouragement definitely helps! I feel bit better today pain rise but my tummy still not great- think antibiotics no doubt not helping, and lack of exercise too ☹️ I have more pain on my side breast/torso now which is not fun and can feel what I hope is sweeping as my body definitely feels/looks square! (Hubby says it’s in my head but it’s so pronounced to me!) sabP
I HaveBoobs 951
Just reading the previous posts and that makes more sense that you would still be uncomfortable as you went under the muscle, recovery for under the muscle will be more uncomfortable and can take longer than overs but it dose get better and yes the antibiotics can make you feel a little nauseous they did for me too, if your feeling up to it get up and move around as much as you can this will help with the swelling and help you to feel better and once you are cleared by your surgeon to start light exercise you'll feel much better . Hoping recovery is going well sabP and margaretriver
Cupcake85 484
I know you posted a few days ago but just wanted to say the sleeping propped up on pillows is to help reduce the swelling. That’s what I was told. It encourages the swelling to move down the body or something. margaretriver, sabP and I HaveBoobs
