Sana 0
Hiive had two unsuccessful nose operations..septo/ turb etc for sinus and septum work and also had a tip rhino done. Needless to say my surgery was a disaster!funds are low but I cannot handle any more sinus migraines or to look at the damage on my nose. I'm seriously obsessed with noises now and I need work done to fix it.ive seen an ent surgeon by the name of Patrick Walsh in st kilda who I really like. He did show me photos etc and said that after seeing my new ct scans I will have a but of work to do but it is fixable.i just cannot find any reviews on work he has done. I've got an appointment with Dr Southwick but fees are looking at $12000. Been there done that and cannot afford it again with young kids.any reviews would be appreciated.. donatella 5,801
I know him well he is a bloody good ENT surgeon and the nicest man too! I would 100% trust him I think he'll be a well known name in a few years. You probably won't find much on him yet as he would have only recently returned to Australia from the UK where he was doing his fellowship Edited August 31, 2023 by donatella
imperfectly_lou 1,102
If it is considered "reconstructive" not purely cosmetic you may be entitled to a rebate. I didn't have to pay the full anaesthetic fee for mine. Im not familiar with that surgeon but just be sure he is capable of doing the plastic side of things. A general ENT won't necessarily be skilled in plastic surgery Edited August 31, 2023 by imperfectly_lou
donatella 5,801
Pat is experienced in the cosmetic side also
Sana 0
Thanks Donatella. Can I ask how you know him..through an op with him or someone you know? He doesn't have any before / after photos to show. I'm extremely u sure as to whether I should be seeing more opinions. I do have an appointment for Perry Burstin as well. A friend had an operation with him and was extremely happy. There is a huge wait though and will most likely be looking until January with him. With Dr Patrick Walsh it will be an op in October. I'm eager only because I have the nerve now. I'm over the migraines from my sinuses etc..still want to ensure I'm making the right decision.
donatella 5,801
I worked with him I'm plastics and ENT about 4 years ago. Definitely get more opinions as it will help you make your choice you don't have to book the first surgeon you see
itsspagoni 0
I think that Patrick is a great medical and plastic surgeon. He just performed a very complex surgery on my sinus (it was major). Patrick prefers not to do any cosmetic surgery until the medical side of issues are fixed (very responsible). He will do a revision for me at the end of the year once I have healed. I don't think that you need to pay 12k have a revision, that is long timer ENT asking for double the amount a normal person can do. By all means, research around, but Patrick is amazing at Medical and plastics. He has his own rooms in Chapel St, St Kilda. Patrick is also the kindest professional I think I have ever engaged. Good Luck.
Bellaaa 371
Hi @Sana I know this is an old post but Ive got a consult for rhino revision with perry bursting and now looking to go for a consult with Patrick Walsh. I have minor breathing problems with my right nostril that I want fixed but I also want someone who is great with the cosmetic side as i want this to be my last revision. My mum and dad have only had 1 rhino within their lifetime but I'm just looking for that little bit more of an improvement, I'm more picky. Who did you end up going with? Do u have any advice for me thanks inadvance
Anna2017 0
Hi @Bellaaa . Can you please let me know how you go with Patrick Walsh? I am in a similar situation. Had two consultations, one with Perry Burstin ( Which I found very disappointing ) and Andrew Greensmith. I m still looking for the Dr with whom I feel best with and is in my price range. Mr Rhino 2
Hi All, I sent some of you a private message yesterday regarding my experience with Perry Burstin. I thought he was great! When I visited him at the start of this year, I was a heavy smoker of 14 years and he gave me the ultimatum of quitting smoking or he won't perform the procedure at all. This was due to my nasal passages being very inflamed and he would be able to provide a better surgical result if the swelling and inflammation subsided. He also prescribed me some sinus sprays to assist with the above and recommended that my tonsils should also be removed at the same time of the septorhinoplasty as they were quite large and affecting my airways. I feel as if Perry has shown a greater level of care compared to Andrew Greensmith and Ian Carlisle. Sure his staff can be a little unprofessional and were having a giggle about a couple of patients noses when they showed me their originals (I feel like they could mock my photos when I'm not there also). His staff have been mentioned a few times by others in reviews as being unprofessional and loud. Anyway, moving onto Ian Carlisles consultation, it lasted 5 mins as he cut me off and I was upset about this. I was then directed onto his staff who ran through things more thoroughly. I can't remember the ladies name at Cabrini Hospital but she was extremely helpful and unbiased, gave me other options and wasn't trying to persuade me to lock in a date or a specific surgeon. Basically the next step was that Dr Carlisle wanted photos with Ann from Metamorphics then I could organise a second consultation with him if I wanted to. As much as his staff were great, Dr Carlisle told me that nobody would see my asymmetrical nostrils which was extremely disappointing. After I told him that the nostrils were the thing I hated most about my nose, he changed his tune and said he will fix them also and explained how he would do it. That was a big deal breaker for me and I crossed him off my list. His price was around $9k from memory but Carlisle takes the Medicare rebate himself and subtracts it from his price so $9k was the final total. Regarding Patrick Walsh, a friend of mine has been extremely happy with him and referred me a few months ago. He is the next and most likely the final surgeon I will visit then I will see what Ann from Metamorphics can do for me with computer imaging and lock in second consultations with Perry and Patrick before making a final decision. Hope this helps some of you in choosing a surgeon.

I wish I never saw my first surgeon for 4 nose jobs. patrick had to fix a lot of it up. Thank you so much for the info, I was so close to choosing AG, but will wait for the consult with PWalsh. Did AG perform all of your former rhinos? Hi all, has anyone had revision rhino with Philip Michael?
