OMG I am getting veneers

Recommended Posts

I m absolutely petrified but I made the decision to get porcelan veneers.

I love my teeth after all of my orthodontic treatment, however, years of grinding my teeth has left them a little uneven on the surface and uneven on the bottom of them because i was grinding them previously when they werent straight.
Anyway, I also have a cant, which means my jaw slopes down on one side. I could have surgery but mine is not major enough to warrant the risk of surgery.

So last week I had a consult with Dr Dee at Vogue dental solutions. We are going to start with 10 veneers on the top teeth, one composite on the bottom and the plan is putting another 10 on the bottom teeth in another 3-6 months. Its apparently a long time in the chair and its been recommended to me by others that splitting it up can be more bearable.

Anyway, im so excited and nervous. I dont want to have beaver teeth lol i dont want them too thick or two fake looking. I want them how i want my boobs. too perfect to be real but natural looking that your not 100% sure that they are fake.

Aside from the look of them, the grinding down of the teeth is making me uneasy. Because of my orthodontic work, i dont need a huge amount of gringing because my teeth a straight.

15th Feb is my appointment to get my teeth prepped (shaved down) and the temp veneers put on.

March 6th is my first appointment to put on my finals however, Dr Dee being the perfectionsit that he is, has warned me that because of my cant, it can be difficult to perfect the veneers the first time around and that I should expect to have my temps put back on at this point whilst they do more refinements to the final veneers, so i may not have my finals on until the week after.

Any advice for me?
I am getting EMAX veneers and I have to pick my colour soon. Im thinking 2-3 from the whitest

I am going to try and VLOG as much of it as I can - Ill probably do an interview or something with Dr Dee afterwards for the blog on here so he can explain what he is going to do.

I am sooo freaking nervous but excited. I like my teeth, but i have to constantly get botox to lessen the look of my cant and it does not last that long. Its kind of like do i wear a padded bra or just get a boob job lol
I just want my teeth, but better.
@Donatella i actually said i want the whitest, im like give me so white everyone needs sunglasses when i smile, but he thinks 2-3 would give me the results i want.

They are going to send me my digital mock ups soon so i will be sure to post them all in here, im going to need honest to god feedback from you :)

I'm literally hanging on by a thread for a veneers I cannot wait! I think they make such a difference not that your teeth aren't beautiful already!! I'll give you feedback i'm super fussy with veneers I hate when they look like a row of tents, they still need to look like natural teeth but just perfect! I'm sure you are all over it!!

hahahaha you know me too well - there is sooo much info about veneers out there and so much conflicting info its hard to know what to believe.

I am grateful that I get to see them on my teeth before we cement them in so we can keep making changes until im happy.
I know what you mean about the row of tents - i dont want to look like i have dentures lol

He is my chosen one too!

More expensive than I was originally hoping - but also the only one who has been able to promise he can give me exactly what I want.

20x porcelain veneers in ludacris white. ✨

Yes @donatella it’s him ?

OMG when are you getting yours? How exciting. I was going to do the 20 in one go but am splitting it up now 10 now and 10 in a few months.

Are you getting the whitest white? He showed me this one, who had the whitest white https://www.instagram.com/p/BZ9u_yVAdl5/?hl=en&taken-by=voguedentalstudios

Intan his PA has 3rd whitest and he said either that or 2nd whitest would be good for me. Now im thinking maybe i should just go whitest lol

After I get back from Miami I think! I don’t have the $34k saved, so I’ll be trying to pull it out of my a$$ by the end of the year ?

I’m still within my Invisalign treatment. Dr dee was happy with where my teeth are, but I thought I’ll just continue until I have the money for the veneers.

I’ll do the 20x in one hit. Hopefully November!

Yes I saw him! If that’s the absolute whitest I’ll do that, if I can goto the lab and have even brighter we’ll ill do that.

I want them to be blinding. But I don’t do anything in moderation. ✨?

In my head, the whitest has been my only option all along. Never considered anything else. But I do understand why others do, just depends on what you want to achieve I guess. Either way, he’ll do a fab job!

I was going to do all 20 in one go but just the top will be 4 hours in the chair at least and im not sure i can handle longer - i.e. i reckon my valium will wear off in that time lol. im not great with people working on my teeth - everytime im at the dentist, which is a lot lately as i jsut finished invisalign and then braces, it feels like im going to choke. i hate that feeling lol

Oh your whitest white will be amazing. You girls have definitely sold me on at least 2nd whitest, but im going to have a play around when i go for my temps in a little over a week.

ahh im so nervous but excited too. They will be lasering my gum on the right hand side when i get my temps fitted soo im so excited about that.
Canting is the worst, i have this gummy smile, but only on one side. I hate it.

So now im kind of obsessed with teeth and veneers. Thank god its only a week wait because i know what i am like, OCD

How exciting! I'd never heard of this guy until now. :) I did my 20 at once and it was definitely an ordeal Mind you, I had to travel to QLD to have it done (took 2 weeks) and the lab that designs the veneers is literally 15 minutes from the dental clinic so it was easy to send them back and make adjustments. The grinding can get uncomfortable, I won't lie. Mind you, I had 6 crowns (on top) and 14 veneers so a bit more grinding on top for me. My advice is to just put your hand up once the anaesthetic starts to wear off (mine did ). I tried to be brave the first session and just deal with it but if you just speak up, the dentist will numb you again and you'll be comfortable. It's a long time in the chair. And I will warn you, if you see your face with ground down teeth, you will feel like the ugliest person ever. I wasn't going to look but I caved and did. Ugh!! Not pretty. But so worth it in the end. I went the second whitest shade and the dentist also used a white cement to block out some of the darkness underneath (apparently my dentin was quite dark). They are definitely white enough for me!! I was almost going to go with BL3 but my dentist recommended BL2 with white cement and then added some minor gingival staining to give them a bit more of a natural look. That's another thing to understand, you can use a clear cement, which lets more of your natural colour show through so when you look at 2 photos of BL2 shade, they can be different colours. If I didn't have to travel for mine, I would've broken up the experience also. My top teeth were very sensitive to cold foods for about 4 months (but I had crowns on these) but are fine now. I slept a lot after being in the chair. The anaesthetic, although local, seemed to knock me about. Even the fitting of the permanents can be quite painful afterwards. Good luck! I look forward to seeing your new smile.

Great advice, I wont be looking at my teeth once they have been grinded down, I think that will be way more then I can handle lol (precious much)

I am so excited for next week - what were your temp veneers like?

Mine were quite bulky and long! But that's because my jaw is out of whack and they tried to compensate for that with my first wax-up! But other than that, they looked pretty good! They were literally a mould of my wax-up and just made of a plastic type stuff (similar to what's in fillings). I recommend seeing your doctor and getting some good pain relief beforehand. Something codeine-based like panadeine forte or panadeine extra will do wonders for pain control. They can be quite sensitive afterwards when the anaesthetic wears off. You can't buy any codeine-based products over the counter anymore (as of start of Feb) so it's good if you're prepared!

SO i thought i would come and update you all.

I had my first prep appointment last Monday where I had some of my gum lasered on one side to help correct the appearance of my cant. I was numbed up and did not feel a thing. Afterwards, it felt kind of the way it did when my wisdom teeth were pushing through the gums. Like you want to naw at it a little bit but pain was 0.
I had some of my teeth slightly grinded at this appointment but it was so minimal that I did not need temp veneers.
Dr Dee asked me if i would meet him at the ceramists office on Wednesday so that they could work together with me there in person and get it all perfect. Apparently a cant is really hard to correct going off just the moulds and Dr Dee is a perfectionist and i was happy to go along.

Russell is the master ceramist and he knew straight away what I wanted. We picked the colour, I chose BL2 as I want a full princess smile as they called it.
Russell noticed that I have an extremely big smile and I am quite expressive so I smile a lot. He put a temp veneer on my front teeth to show me that if I did not shave down my teeth I would not be happy with the results because for me, adding even .2ml thickness onto my teeth would make them too bulky.

I told Russell that I had done my research and that I was happy to grind away lol - The way I see it, I am paying all this money for better teeth, no one is going to see my ground down ice addict teeth after they are on so there is no point sacrificing the outcome of my aesthetic results to preserve my teeth underneath that no one will be able to see anyway.

So Russell and Dr Dee put these templates on my teeth and we did some finessing with them. Then it was time to laser the gum some more and start cutting.

This time I was numbed up quite a lot and Dr Dee went to town lasering my gum line some more. He then started grinding my teeth down and this was not painful at all.
I did not want to look at my teeth like that but of course I did snapchat my best friend the whole time, so she got a good look.
I did take pictures and I have looked at them and its okay. i mean they look like drug addict teeth but i have temp veneers over them so who cares.

The temps are annoying. i think i got the record for breaking them. 3 hours after i got the temps on I ate a rice cake and snapped some of the temp off at the end. LOL

They feel gross and yuk but they dont look too bad. A little thick and chunky obviously because they are just made out of this cement type stuff but im used to them now.

Next Friday is the big day. I get my actual veneers on. Yay I cannot wait.

Im going to make a blog about it to post on here so I will include all the pictures etc that I have once its all finished

So tomorrow is the day that I get my final veneers on and I am sooooo excited. I cant wait to bite into crunchy food, scrap that, any food.
These temp veneers are a real pain in the arse - they stain so easily and I have stained them fluro yellow after I had a tumeric latte - that serves me right for acting like a hipster lol

Anyway, I thought I would update this thread and let anyone know who is interested in seeing the process, im going to film it on Cosmetic Journey instagram if anyone wants to see what happens. Ill be posting from 1pm @cosmeticjourney on insta.

Also thought I would finally pop some pics in my thread to give others an idea of what the process looks like when they laser your gums and grind your teeth down and also what the temps look like (they are super fake and thick because its really once piece in your mouth)

My before teeth. I loved my teeth and my smile but you can kind of see that my teeth canted down to one side and when I smiled hard you could see more gum on one side

Step 1.

A paste was put over my teeth to map out where they needed to laser the gum line and act as a guide for my temp veneers. Here is what that looked like.

Step 2. The gums were lasered back and smelt like a BBQ

Step 3. Dr Dee grinded my teeth back, alot on the first four because I wanted the veeneers to wrap somewhat around in between the front teeth so that my teeth underneath dont get stained as you cant really do anything about that once it happens. I basically said, grind my teeth as much as needed for the perfect result. I figured on one will see them anyway lol

Step 4. My temp veneers are on. They are not this white anymore and because they are all one piece they look super fake but it is basically like a mouthguard over your teeth and it stays in place.

So thats my teeth so far in pictures, cant wait to show my finals tomorrow. I went with the whitest shade but a little more translucent (we called it the princess shade). I told Russell and Dr Dee that I want my teeth like I want my boobs - too good to be real but natural enough that your not 100% sure.

aww you ladies are too kind.

Yesterday was a process and a half - I spent 7 hours in the lab perfecting the veneers before we cemented them in.

I am not going to lie, trying the veneers on is quite painful as your teeth are soooo sensitive from being ground down. I didnt have local anaesthetic for this process because it knocks out your top lip and makes it hard to judge the veneers. There were times the tears were welling up.

I am so over the moon with my results - my gums are still red raw and inflamed so I will post a pic in a few days when they have settled. I have a very wide smile and Dr Dee and I both think I need another two veneers on the top (so 12 in total) so when I go back and do the bottom 10 in a few months I will get the back two put on for the top teeth.

I am beyond happy with how they look. Dr Dee and Russell the ceramist really knew what would look good on me without thinking and they did their best to give me my teeth only better, which I think they delivered on.

Oh my gosh The Fox, I thought your before picture was your after picture and I thought ‘wow they look absolutely amazing!!!’ And that was before you had them done lol!

Your teeth were so perfect before!!!! What had you already had done before this last dental work? I would love teeth like yours! Even your before teeth!
