Going without an agent- Rhinoplasty @ Yanhee.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I've decided to have rhinoplasty done with Dr Somsak at Yanhee early July this year.

I initially researched as much as possible before deciding to go through it with an agent, but I've had problems getting responses from them, one took almost 2 weeks to answer my enquiry, one hadn't at all read what I was requesting (reduction rhinoplasty to remove a hump and tipoplasty to shorten/correct a slight hook) and instead quoted me on augmentation :/ , the third started out promising, I was ready to book, but when I started asking more questions, I never recieved any response, then the excuses came as to why the lack of response, but still no answer to my questions.

Based on these poor experiences I've decided to book through the hospital myself. I recieved an email back the same day from the hospital, much more progress so far.

I did the right thing and let the last agent know I wasn't going through with it because I didn't feel confident without the info I needed- she replied the same day (after not answering my previous emails a week prior!) warning me that the hospital may charge more without an agent. Nice. I find that quite manipulative, ignore my questions, respond only to try put doubt in my head.

I'd love to hear about any experiences going without an agent, is there anything I need to be aware of, what will I need to arrange myself that I might not have thought of? Will the hospital try to charge me more without and agent? Also any suggestions on hotels near Yanhee (price range $50-$80 a night)?

Thankyou all!

Hiya there...,

I m quiet interested in your journey... I went to bkk last December for a BA, rhino & LASIK unfortunately I couldn't go ahead with my rhino... But nevertheless I went there without an agent & found the process really smooth, my hospital was Bangkok hospital but I went to yanhee for a colonic (painkillers 'make you so bloated) the hospital is a bit far from the center.

As for paying more because you don't use an agent that is a LIE!!! Everything is well organised.. You don't have to pay a deposit or anything so if you are not happy with your surgeon or hospital you can just walk away no agent will be there to push you or something.

I can't wait to go back for my rhino end of this year. It's well worth it. :-)

That's good to know

It's quite exciting & terrifying. I've been waiting so long to have this done, and couldn't have it done here due to the cost. I've been quoted 65k baht for the rhinoplasty and 22k baht for the tipoplasty, about $2800aud vs $13,000 aud to have it here.

I wouldn't mind having some tooth maintenance & whitening done as well in Bangkok, before the rhino. Will see how I go I guess.

may i ask what agency? im booked for a rhino in march and its through an agency but having a few problems with them, feel like they are trying to rip me off big time im supposed to be booked at BNH Hospital and with Dr Somsak but im thinking maybe ill cancel the payment for the group tour and book straight through the hospital

It depends on how much you have to do yourself I suppose. Gotta be comfortable with how you are treated by them, ask questions if you feel uncertain abotu pricing etc, if they ignore the questions you have your answer. I would have been happy to pay a bit extra to have everything taken care of for me, but as it was, neither agents were reliable enough for me to feel comfortable to commit to something I really want good communication on.

Agencies were Dest' Beauty & allaboutmemakeo's.

I felt like I was just another commission to push through, this is concerning as the hospital deals with the agent & not you, so you are fairly reliant on a third party to speak and relay info for you.

I've found so far the hospital has been great to deal with, the lady I am dealing with at Yanhee has even offered to book my accomodation and airport transfers.

If you decide to cancel with the agent, tell the hospital & the agent clearly, so there is no mix up in communications thereafter.

Dr Somsak at Yanhee and BNH seem to both be good surgeons, I've heard less about my doctor but enough to be comfortable with the decision. Can't wait! Good luck with your surgery DarthTalon.

I went to Yanhee with a group tour and the 14 of us all had a fantastic experience and also met with ladies who booked directly,Im sorry to hear that you have had lack of response as im sure it is the same company we went through yet none of us had problems with communication or lack of. Yanhee is an extremely professional hospital and the level of service was five star, personally I'd use an agent only coz they make it easy and im too lazy to arrange transport etc myself. Yes Yanhee is a good hours drive out of bangkok where we were staying but I loved being able to see a bit of thailand while I was there.

I had a rhino at Yanhee with Dr Somsak & I'm extremely happy with the result. I went with an agency but I'm going again in a few weeks & organised it myself. It was very easy & I got responses usually within a few hours. When I went last time, I realised how easy it was & really didn't need an agency to book with Yanhee.

There is a surgeon Dr Somyos, Im not sure about the spelling, but there are great reviews about him, on the thai surgery forums you will see it if you type in that name. They say he's a god oh rhino, but i have no personal experience with him, hope that helps anyway

Hi there

I am not sure if I would go with that doctor. I haven't heard any bad reviews about him but here are the number of cases of each one of what you are getting done are:

I am getting rhinoplasty,,reduction and tip reshaping. Of all the surgeons at yanhee only Dr Sanit had a lot of experience,,,(and Dr Pitch but I have heard too many negative reviews about him) and Dr Sanit isn't doing noses any more. That is why I decided to look elsewhere)

Hi Spinifex! I am seeing Dr Somsak at Yahnee Hospital in early September, I know a few people that have seen him and all have had amazing results. Please keep me posted with your experience as you are before me and I am super nervous! haha

Well that is good to hear! I will be sure to let you know how it all goes.

I'm also nervous. Ie; I had a dream the other night I was getting my rhino op.. on my parents garage floor.:/ The doctor bailed on me halfway through. Then I woke up realised it wasn't real and immediately thought "Oooooh yay, can't wait to get it done!" Talk about conflicted feelings.

Just under 7 weeks to go!

Hi, I have just booked a BA at Yahnee on the 21st June.... Initially I got info straight from the hospital (live chat) with Jerome and was completely satisfied with him as he got me my quotes from the doctor I selected....then second guessed myself and contacted an agency only to be told I basically had to go thru the Dr they chose (totally concerned cause little to NO info on him) cause as I had inquired direct they didnt want to inquire on my choice (thinking they may not get a cut cause they couldnt go higher than the quote I got maybe) so after 2 weeks of no answer went back to Jerome and couldnt be more confident....Have had almost daily or 2-3 daily emails till all confirmed (from inquiry to photos to dates booked) and they are even sending a car to the airport to pick me up...organising follow up appt. they gave me hotel recommendations close by but Ive chosen Evergreen Place ($65. night) in town just near MBK (22 min away from hospital, google map) shopping capitol ha ha. They also gave me the exact BA amount, and booking fee (approx $16) and 2 follow up fees (approx $33.) depends on conversion. All meds and 1 night stay included. Ultimately you have to be comfortable with your choice but I hope my experience helps you.....best wishes...

Hey there!

I used to work for an Australian cosmetic surgery booking agency, i was their Bangkok person (so i looked after clients when they flew over to get their surgery). Yanhee have their own assistants to help you with the checking in, the waiting to speak to the doctor, they show you to the rooms and check on you after your surgery. For the main part you are by yourself but the hospital is VERY accommodating and in my opinion, if you are brave enough to go to a foreign country to get surgery in the first place, it's not necessary to have someone hold your hand 24/7.

I recommend going through the hospital, most people speak English anyway. There's no booking fees or sign up fees (like with the company i worked for) and you just know you won't be paying any extra, only the price for the actual surgery.

Good luck! I'll be over this year for rhinoplasty also!

Hi I'm planning on having rhinoplasty this coming new year at the yahnee hospital and am not planning on going through an agency. It's so easy to chat to the staff at yahnee online and the person I've been speaking to has great English and said they would organise transfers from the airport to the hospital. They also would give me a list of hotels to stay at. They said I'd end to stay at the hospital for one or two nights and that then I could go to my hotel and that afterwards I would have a follow up checkup after the surgery 6-7 days afterwards which they would book as well.

I can't see why I should book with an agency when the staff at yahnee are so helpful! The only thing they can't really disclose is who is the best surgeon for rhinoplasty. I've been doing a bit of research but still am up in the air as to who to go with! Anyone can recommend someone? Also whether I should stay near the hospital or near the city? I'm trying to make this a holiday as well as a surgery and would like to relax post surgery as well.

Please be careful with yahnee. More often than not, we get girls come on here with horrific outcomes, that literally would have to be seen to be believed!! Their doctors are known to do some weird, mutalated, and horrible things to their pateints. Wishing u both luck if u do go ahead with ur surgeries at Yahnee hospital.

Ohhhh thats cute. I've had 4 surgeries at Yanhee and all 4 have turned out flawless..

Yanhee is an amazing hospital with a fantastic range of services with great doctors. Would never ever go anywhere else, seriously. Planning my third trip this year for my 5th & 6th surgery. You don't need luck when you have skilled surgeons.

I had Dr Suthat for my eye-bag surgery AND nose surgery, he was fantastic. Gave me great advice in the consult beforehand regarding what i had planned to do with my nose, like he really does care. He won't do a surgery if he thinks it's unnecessary AND then when he actually did the surgery, it was perfect & symmetrical & everything, i'm super happy with my result. I would highly recommend Dr Suthat.

HINT: don't rely on the airport pick-up. I found my way to my hotel myself & they actually told me after the surgery they would organize for someone to take me home. They did not. But it wasn't an issue because i had maps prepared & business cards of all the places i was staying. In order to avoid disappointment, i suggest you do the same. It's not expensive to catch cabs everywhere anyway. I also recommend you stay around the touristy areas pre & post surgery so when you're ok enough to go out (i was after like 2 recovery days), you aren't as isolated as you would be staying near the hospitals & you can shop or go out to awesome restaurants or even sit at bars & chill out/meet other people!

Message me if you need help, i've been 4 times & i'm heading back over to live in August, i can recommend heaps of accommodation for you.
