Hi everyone, I have 2 questions. Has anyone has surgery with Dr Somsak Kunachakr - Kasemrad hospital? Very hard to get any info on him as he does not advertise although it will be my 2nd surgery with him. Can anyone recommend an insurance company for overseas surgery to organise here in Melbourne before I go. Thanks

Hey gals, I have wanted & dreamed of this for so long that I thought it would never ever happen! I inquired two days ago and now I'm suddenly booked in for a consult on Jan 2!!!!! So nervous and excited, I've barely slept I've been so overwhelmed with flights/accommodation/finding a travel partner/planning my itinerary on top of kids and everything else I have on right now, haha. Ahhhh, I have so many questions! The most important one though, is medical insurance. I can't remember whether I read it in an email or just assumed, but I thought PPSI insured me for my surgeries? But I can't find the details now, hence my post. If I need to source it myself, which company is best to go with please? Thank you!

hi guys! so im getting a BA next month and i was just thinking if should start buying a health insurance. i know that most health insurance would have a waiting period but even so i thought i might need it somewhere along the way if i have implants anyways. in the case of not having a insurance, how much would medicare cover for complications? and if i do have health insurance would that significatly lower my out of pocket cost?

Hi girls I'm getting GPS insurance approx $520 AUD for my BL & BA in May. I'm curious: If I was unhappy with the results I.e: assymetry of the breasts or different sized nipples, would that be considered a fault of the surgeon and enough to be covered or would it be blamed on my own body's healing? Also- if I were to need revision (just being super paranoid due to some bad reviews of late but unable to cancel last minute as flights are paid) would the revision only be covered for that same surgeon to fix it or does insurance allow for you to have issues fixed in your own country? Thanks!
-
I received email back from GPS insurance and was told the insurance does not include "undesired outcomes or failed results" only medical complications. That seems pointless to me as I'm assuming if I wound up with nipples facing in the wrong directions or severe assymetry or anything that wasn't necesarily "medical" I would still have to pay to have it fixed myself despite paying $500 AUD. Very disappointed.

Is it common to have assymetry with a breast lift? Whether it be one breast dropping lower than the other or nipples in different positions. This is my biggest fear as I have slight assymetry already and am hoping it will be corrected not made worse. Is assymetry considered normal to a degree or would it qualify for revision under medical insurance if it were very noticable?

Hi ladies! I'm heading over to Thailand in Dec for a BL + BA at PIAC with Dr B and was just wondering if everyone who's had surgery over there for medical insurance? And if so, who did you go through? I've looked into it but I'm struggling to make sense of the one I need/what it actually covers?! I also need to get onto my vaccines ASAP. My other question is if you guys got them before travelling? I had a friend who went for surgery last year and she booked so quickly that they would be ineffective and she was fine. Just wondering what others have done? Xx

Hello, I am looking at two different package deals to travel from Australia to Phuket for breast surgery. I would like for feedback about your experience with either PIAC or Bangkok hospital Phuket. Also if any one has had complication immediately after surgery or within twelve months of surgery, and recommendation of hotels. Thanks so much, looking forward to some good replies to help me.

hello lovelies, well its 8 weeks before i jet off to bangkok for a few procedures. My parents asked if i had travel insurance, i just gave them a funny look and asked, why in the world would i need that, but after the trouble going down in bangkok now i thought i best reconsider my need for insurance, but i have no idea where to start. Are their any insurance providers who issue travel insurance for people considering overseas surgery? If i get regular travel insurance do i tell them im having surgery and dental? or must i stick with medical travel insurance? do any insurance companies let you chose your own surgeon, or must you use a surgeon whos approved by the insurance company?

Hey girls Did anyone get medical insurance before they left and with who??

I've done a forum search and there doesn't seem to be a thread on just private health insurances. I am trying to get it sorted for myself and just want to know who you went with for private health insurance and why? Any bad experiences with a previous or current provider? Thanks

Hi everyone, I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me! I'm 18 and am planning on getting a Rhinoplasty to make my nose smaller and hopefully help me to breathe better. I've already had a Septoplasty and Terbinectomy when I was 16. I've had private health insurance for a few months now, but because I've never had it before I don't really understand exactly how it works and how much I will be out of pocket? I'd love some advice and personal experiences on cost and surgeons. Thank you! Mikkays.

Hi everyone! I'm in the process of booking my breast augmentation through PIAC for late June and was wondering if anyone who has gone overseas has taken our any travel or medical insurance and who they took with? Also, do you take it before or after you book your surgery/flights/accommodation? I've never really travelled overseas before apart from when i was a young child so I'm really new to all this!

Just on the topic of overseas surgery insurance, i know of the companies that do cover you and all the info. I was just wondering if there is anyone who has actually made a claim on their surgery (BA or other) and if they were succesful in getting a pay out. I am trying to decide if it is worth having insurance or not. The wording in the PDS is making me unsure if it would be a simple process or if the company makes it difficult to get any money out of them. Would love to hear from anyone with experience in this, even just experience in the insurance industry who could help make some sense of the jargon thanks!

Hi All, Most travel insurance wont cover medical related travel, especially for elective surgery. In my research to travel to Thailand for BA I stumbled across an american company that does provide coverage for medical travel. They even have an option to cover your travel companions. The amount for medical travel insurance is quite high opposed to normal travel insurance, but from my understanding it covers complications on the table and up to a certain timeframe (months) after surgery and basic cover needs in case of accidents while travelling abroad. follow the link for more information. or even contact them for info. https://www.globalprotectivesolutions.com hope that helps some people
